Just thought of this from another topic. One of my pet peeves is tired smark claims about how the WWE/Vince/Triple H/Creative/Whomever does something that, while it may have been true at some point, clearly isn't true anymore.
I'll start with the notion that VINCE ONLY PUSHES BODYBUILDERS! or guys with huge builds, and only pushes little guys when he's out of big guys.
You can argue whenever this really started to transition, but you really can't say, with Punk and Bryan as the shining examples, and really even whenever Rey's still around, that they only push hosses anymore. Heck, aside from Ryback, who isn't even near the main event, the guys getting monster pushes lately haven't even been the traditional hoss, or it would've been Mason Ryan and Big Zeke doing the squashing.
Yet for some reason, people still repeat it.

{Spoiler}Cena wins. He basically has a 50% win record on PPV over the last few years but in the build up to every match he's involved in there will still be a few people who swear that there's no way he could possibly lose.

While the WWE has moved away from that position for the time being, I think it's evolved into the notion that a hoss would probably get a break faster than someone smaller would. Case in point, a guy like Mason Ryan, Zeke or Jackson Andrews got called up to tv faster, even though they were green, than a more polished guy like Colt Cabana.

The complaint has almost always been that Vince "prefers" to push big guys, not that he just pushes them.

I don't know how anyone could have watched that meeting between Daniel Bryan and Vince a few weeks back and came out not believing that given the choice, Vince would have King Ronnie Coleman and a returning Gary Strydom, complete with wig, battling it out in an oil pit filled with red meat and VHS copies of Rambo headlining next month's PPV

Anyone who isn't WWE's own creation will get nowhere. Especially seeing as the main feud is currently 2 former indy darlings & another two are pretty much headlining FCW.

Anyone who still says that John Cena can't wrestle must not have watched WWE past 2005.
Also, the claims that WWE still cares that Cena garners mixed reactions.

Think about. They're a business and Cena is a product. If a product you're responsible for gets mixed reaction , it's not good for business.

There's two pieces to the REAL claim, which is that Vince McMahon himself only cares about bodybuilders, and that bodybuilders will get big pushes even when they bring nothing to the table other than a nice body. There is evidence that both are true to some degree.

No. If the product still sells then that's all that matters. Cena still makes WWE money, and as long as he does, then WWE shouldn't (and won't) care at all about mixed reactions.

WWE only wants blonde Barbie models with implants. There's only 3 1/2 blonde divas on the roster, and a lot of the divas don't have breast implants these days.

{Spoiler}Cena wins. He basically has a 50% win record on PPV over the last few years but in the build up to every match he's involved in there will still be a few people who swear that there's no way he could possibly lose. His win record isn't great yes, but usually whenever he loses he follows up with a win in the overall feud anyway. That's what people mean by "Cena wins". It doesn't matter what happens in the feud, because he'll RISE ABOVE HATE and win in the end.

That's more than any other top babyface has lost.

They care to a point - as long as Cena gets ANY reaction he'll be fine. I've said this before - if you really want someone to go away, the crowds needs to Conway pop them into oblivion. Doesn't always work, but it's a start.

Also some of their most heavily pushed women were: Candice Michelle Maria Mickie James AJ Eve Torres They made Aksana dye her hair before bringing her to Smackdown

As far as pushing bodybuilder types, I feel it's also worth bringing up Sheamus. It's hard to believe that they would stick with his current push on a smaller guy that was getting the same level of apathy from the crowd. Sheamus might not be the top featured feud but they do allow his feuds to be his feuds, contrast to Punk/Bryan who are performers in AJ's feud.
