I always hear about how out of touch WWE is with their audience. I agree, to some extent. My question is, what do people want in 2012? What is it that would make WWE popular again, or at least keep fans interested?

I asked this same question a couple of years ago, and the response was along the lines of the audience not knowing what they want.
Could be attributed to shorter attention spans nowadays, one minute they like something and the next they are on to something new.

Brock Lesnar, The Rock, CM Punk, HHH, Austin, HBK, Undertaker. Maybe Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan. Heath Slater getting squashed. Guys that seem like and are treated as big deals.

Evolution...and not the stable. Stop recycling the same stuff on repeat, and let the company evolve.

A realistic, down to earth show... that's completely off the wall and swarming with magic robots.

Unpredictability. All the best storylines are the ones you don't see coming, thus making each show a must see. Anytime it becomes too obvious is when the viewers start tuning out. What's the point of watching every show when you can skip weeks of episodes and come back without really missing a thing?

What's the point of watching every show when you can skip weeks of episodes and come back without really missing a thing? $5 says that some time this month, a diva's match will end in a roll-up, John Cena will no-sell a beating, Dolph Ziggler will eat a Brogue Kick, and Triple H will cut an in-ring promo at the start of the show.

I'd like to see the World Championships unified, and the building of a proper midcard. We don't really need two World Titles. "The Adventures of John Cena" as well as the Bryan/Punk/AJ storyline to a certain point have shown us that the writers ARE capable of writing compelling storylines without championships.
Also, I'd like to see individual members of tag teams receiving singles pushes without having to break the team up. Inverse to that effect, give singles wrestlers a regular tag team partner because most of the time they end up in tag matches anyway. For example, have Zack Ryder & John Cena teaming up more often. Likewise, have Alex Riley tag teaming with CM Punk.

Truly interesting and compelling main eventers. This is my opinion and I'm only speaking for myself here, but to me Daniel Bryan & CM Punk aren't that. I find them bland, dull and generally no fun to watch at all.
WWE needs to create characters that grab attention and make me want to watch their shows every week. They have failed to do that in recent years. Instead of saying "wow...these guys are great! I can't wait to see what they do next!"...I just yawn and look at my watch when watching them.
They have their fans and that's cool, but I'm simply not one of them at all. Perhaps WWE will eventually come up with some characters that can grab my attention again and make we watch every week.
