I don't know that Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) is going to fail. Out of the Potter leads he at first seemed to be the one most likely to have potential after the films. I see him working as a character actor for some time and trying the occasional comedy.
Megan Fox is just atrocious. The only time there is any good acting talent inside her is when she has sex with her husband (Brian Austin Green).
Kristen Stewart sure is pretty. She would be even more pretty if she looked life-like.
I don't know about Robert Pattinson. He seems like when he isn't playing a dead guy he has some charisma to him.
Taylor Lautner? He got good cuts. (Actually, I found Abducted moderately tolerable. I was able to finish it, which is more than I can say about a lot of the films my wife chooses to watch.)

Some of these aren't so much failed attempts on Hollywood's fault (which isn't one big hive mind, there's a lot of disagreement and debate flying around that town) so much as it is actors and actresses having natural peaks and valleys in their careers, or major studios looking for fresher faces. Long lasting careers on the level of Streep, Depp, DiCaprio and Denzel are exceptions to the norm, and it'd be easier to pick who the entertainment press correctly predicted would go down in history. 90% of the time, they're gonna get it wrong.
In the case of SJP, she's marketed more on being stylish (which she is, and I'm not even a Sex And The City fan) as opposed to a Mila Kunis who's sold on her hotness. The latter is tailored more for younger men than older women, and demos are another thing to consider when determining why one's career didn't last as long as expected. It's not always just "they can't act", because that just chucks objectivity out the door.

Lautner is like Jeff Hardy. His physical charisma is off the charts (in terms of mannerisms, not looks), but his line delivery makes him hard to take seriously. Give him an art house role as a mute hitman and he'd be fantastic.

Also, as much as I LOVE him, I'll throw in Paul Rudd to the list too.
Now as comedic actor alone he's awesome, but as a convincing leading man, which is something they've tried to do time and time again, he's not suitable for that kind of role. Whenever he's the main character in a movie, he's usually sharing the spotlight with another comedic actor. Role Models, which was a pretty good movie, was a team effort with Seann William Scott. I Love You Man, funny movie, but again a team effort with the equally awesome Jason Segel. Dinner for Schmucks was a crap movie, and while that was also a team effort with Steve Carell, Carell's character was stupidly obnoxious, even though that's what he was "suppose" to be.
Dinner for Schmucks aside, the movies were good, but he's just not strong enough to carry a film by himself. He's better off in supporting or co-starring roles in an assembled cast.

About Robert Pattinson, I'm going against the odds and predicting success in his carrer, I don't know why but I see him as Leonardo DiCaprio in the future, Cosmopolis was part of that build and hope to watch more of him in that kind of movies, IMO he is going to be big (At least that's what I hope)

Ryan Reynolds...just...Ryan Reynolds. I don't know, he is likable enough. His forte should be romcoms but he has some flexibility. Safehouse was enjoyable. Granted, a large part of it is because Denzel is awesome but when watching it you could not help but to want for Reynolds' character to prove himself worthy of being in the same realm of thought.

Besides that, he seems to be a pretty good actor, IMO and I could see him going far.

I'm not sure "Employee of the Month" was released to capitalize on his popularity at the time. He was everywhere back in 2006, especially with him doing his standup concert at the time "Vicious Circle" and he had his reality/documentary show on MTV. Of course, what has he done lately?

Had Soul Man worked out, we would still be talking about C. Thomas Howell's amazing career to this day. He was in the new Spider-Man movie so I guess that counts for something. It just took me an hour to figure out it was him.

Early 2010 they tried to get Jay Baruchel over with she's out of my league and the sorcers appearance.

I believe Michael Cera and Jonah Hill are destined for this same fate. Cera was a little more subtle about it. It's becoming obvious with Hill though, especially since the weight loss. However, he can be pretty damn funny sometimes, and he's shown cases of being a good dramatic actor too (Cyrus), so I'm okay with it.

Joe Piscopo Madonna I believe Michael Cera and Jonah Hill are destined for this same fate. Jonah Hill seems like he is going to have some sort of character actor career. Michael Cera needs to take a look at how Topher Grace has approached his career if he wants to extend it any. Both were defined by nerdy, neurotic, unmotivated, and wimpy characters (Scott Pilgrim notwithstanding), but since he started looking at a film career Topher has extended his range somewhat: - He had small cameos as a somewhat douchey version of himself in the Ocean's films. - He played a career orientated, confident, and successful businessman who found himself dating the daughter of the man he was hired to replace. - He played a psychopathic, sadistic, manipulative, and murderous doctor. - He played a fairly sleezetastic Eddie Brock (honestly, there were plenty of problems with Spiderman 3 but Grace wasn't one of them). Don't get me wrong, Topher Grace is not the star that he could have been and he has on occasion gone back to the horse that got him to the race in the first place (nerdy and twitchy lovelorn losers), but he is still getting work which is the key to having a shot at landing that role that will bring you back to the forefront. Right now the only work I see Michael Cera getting is a web series with HBO.

I will put forward: Josh Hartnett and Orlando Bloom I'll give you Orlando Bloom, but I never really saw repeated attempts at getting Josh Hartnett over. He's a somewhat recognizable face, but I don't remember Hollywood plastering his face all over everything

First thought was Lindsay Lohan. In all honesty though she might have been successful still if she had not become a coked-out caricature of herself.

Joe Piscopo Madonna I believe Michael Cera and Jonah Hill are destined for this same fate. Jonah was nominated for an Oscar and is about to work with Martin Scorsese, he's doing fine
