You know something.... Us wrestling fans who follow the wrestling industry through the internet usually think that because we read spoilers and find out what's going on behind the scenes means we can predict what's gonna happen. And low and behold, they swerved me in a way I never thought they could. I actually saw the PPV. A friend of mine bought it and invited me to come see the show. I was skeptical of the whole thing. And for about two and a half hours, it was pretty tame. Until the Elimination Chamber. Kurt Angle got eliminated first. What? I'm sure most of us thought that Carlito or Masters would be out first. Then Kane gets eliminated just minutes into entering the match. Surprising to say the least. Then HBK, who has began developing a feud with Vince McMahon, gets eliminated unexpectedly. Surely, I thought it was going down to Cena and HBK. And surely Vince would interfere somehow and cost HBK the match. Why did I think this? Because I thought I knew it all. Well, I was right about Cena retaining by defeating Carlito and Masters. And then they swerved me again. Out comes Edge. Out of nowhere. Unexpectedly. Edge comes to get his shot at the strap. At this point, I'm thinking that the WWE is gonna screw this all up. As Edge spears Cena and covers him, I'm thinking he's gonna beat Cena. 1, 2, NO! Damn! I told my friends that Cena's retaining. I was so sure of it. I thought the WWE was gonna go down the path they've been going down since his title run began in April. Then Edge spears Cena AGAIN! Huh? And the ref counts. 1,2....... ....THREE! And for the third time in less than twenty minutes, the WWE had swerved me on THREE different occasions. And here I thought I was the one who was outsmarting the WWE. Well, much like many of you, we were stunned. Left in disbelief. Without question, I marked out like a little kid again. Makes me miss being a young wrestling fan. And for the record, I'm not a big Edge fan, but it's nice to see the WWE surprise you once in a while. Certainly surprised me. So for the first time in quite a while, let me give much credit and props to the WWE writers for coming up with a well thought out finish with plenty of surprises and twists. For once, they got it right. Terrific work! Now let's see how they follow this up. I will say this. For the first time in quite a long time, I'm actually anticipating watching wrestling tomorrow night. Keep up the good work guys. You fooled me three times in one night. Let's see if you can fool me again. I agree with Lancerz 100% great swerves all around took up what was otherwise a pretty awful ppv I'm excited to see what happens next!

I think they have to go with the Sting angle now (as far as Cena is concerned). I think we're gonna see Cena walk away for awhile tomorrow night.

I am so happy to see every one here is being mature about Edge winning the title.
Over at the news site I go to, in the comments section, there were people who previously said that they'd "Like to see the belt on anyone but Cena." What do I read when I get there?
"Edge is an effin' d-bag, and doesn't deserve s***!"
Edge, aside from Kurt Angle, was more deserving than anyone that was in the EC tonight. I was SOOOO happy that he won the WWE Championship. Not because he beat Cena. But because he TRULY deserved it.
Now you could argue that he only won it after Cena was bloodied and somewhat out of it. But you know what? In storyline terms, IT WAS SMART ON EDGE'S PART! He made the best of a situation and capitalized.
You could say that he didn't deserve it because of the Matt Hardy situation. So? Chris Benoit had an affair with Kevin Sullivan's wife (eventually marrying her) and he won the title. Are you gonna tell me Benoit didn't deserve it.
I marked like a mo-fo when Edge won, even though I wasn't the BIGGEST Edge-head, but you can't deny the fact that he deserves this. I had been actually waiting for this since he won King of the Ring back in 2001. Here's to Edge!

HBK's been having fantastic matches ever since he came back.. and, well, his whole career. I'd say he deserves it too. Whether it would be a good idea or not, you can't say HBK doesn't fall in the "deserving it" category.
Edge was the 2nd best option to me, the first being Angle. So I'm happy.

WWE has spent the past few years building Triple H as the biggest heel ever, so now it should be interesting to see where they go with this title reign. I'm guessing Edge won't be champion very long.

How can it be a spoiler if it already happened live on PPV. If you didn't watch it and don't want to read results, then avoid the boards for a day or two.
I only buy 2 PPVs a year (Rumble and Mania) and I come here to get my results and chime in with my two cents.
Good idea throwing it all into one thread, though. The board was getting pretty cluttered.

I almost turned my TV off when Cena won the chamber but by the time I got there I head McMahons music, sat back on the couch and watched the single best unpredicatable thing the WWE has done for ages!!!!!!!!!!
Long Live Edge as WWE Champ

Their match in Japan was really good. They have good in-ring chemistry. Maybe we'll see a program with those two. It sounds like Edge is a face now anyway.

I was at Pepsi Arena, and the floor show was great. Upper right TV side down toward the right. Doubt I got on Camera. Had signs reading "KANE BURNED MY OTHER SIGN" and "That's Enough, John Cena!" The heat match between Snitsky and CHavo was a lot of fun (and Snitsky was the only guy I was honestly scared of... he looked bigger then Big show to me. He freaked me out). Just after the IC Match, they had an Ad for Bret's DVD, and I nearly dumped my soda in my lap. The show ran on Autopilot. Trips/SHow was very impressive and looked great. I nearly bawled over Helms/Lawler. A lot of the Pro-angle chants started in my section and it was LOUD. A few great guys behind us really made the show fun. I was also honestly suprised they gave Cena the win then took the belt. It was a nice display. I really am no Edge fan - in fact, versus anyone else, I'd have hated it. But I really was pleased to see Cena drop the strap. And the Arena agreed.

There was plenty of boos in the cheers- and the cheers were against Cena, not for Edge. I think one dastardly act by Edge against anyone but Cena will end any face reaction quickly.

^^^JOHN CENA IS A TRULY GREAT AND GREAT WRESTLER AND RAPPER
John Cena didn't deserve to get injured in the NYR match and doesn't deserve the boos. He is a terrific wrestler and has good, solid in-ring skills that have improved and are steadily getting better. Edge DOES NOT DESERVE the title because he didn't earni it. John's th the best!

No, Cena's deserved the boos for sometime. Except for a few teenage marks who have never seen Ricky Steamboat, Flair in his prime, Sting, or hell, Harley Race, he's not really that good a wrestler. He should have blossomed to something more insightful than a few dirty raps. He's treated like Superman or Hulk Hogan which is a joke.
Steadily getting better? Surely you jest....
The title swap is perfectly appropriate, especially if Edge is a transitional champ where he can drop the belt to someone with real talent like HHH or Angle.
Now we get to see if Cena can develop to other angles other than pushing for the belt. They DO need those in the WWE you know...
