Released for the Game Boy in 1989, Super Mario Land saw Mario venture into the kingdom of Sarasaland to free it from the alien Tatanga. It was one of the first games made for the Game Boy system, and it sent Mario into different worlds, this time based on countries. Daisy appeared for the first time in this game, back when she was just a copy of Peach, before they gave her a entirely different personality. Anyone else play this game back in the day?

I had it on the Game Boy back when, and I have it on my 3DS now. Personally like it quite a bit, though I know feelings on it are mixed for a lot of people. It's my preference of the two actual Super Mario Land games, though, probably in part because I'm someone who finds Super Mario Bros. more fun than some of its sequels.

I've always loved the soundtrack to this game. Chai Kingdom, in particular.

Good first entry into the Game Boy series, IMO. I liked the rail shooter stages and that the superball not only defeated enemies but collected coins as well.
Forgot about Chai Kingdom. Also, collecting a star plays "Can Can." Excellent music for Game Boy.

Fun game, I enjoyed Tatanga as a bad guy. I'll always remember the music to the first level. Also, I remember this game being fairly hard, at least since it didn't have a save option.

Never liked this one. It was too short and weird as hell. I love the second one though.

I think it's the one game I've beaten the most times. It's just incredibly easy and fun.

I played it on a friend's Gameboy a few times. The thing I remember most about it is that jumping felt really awkward for some reason. Other than that it was pretty good.
