And a year and two losses later, Cro Cop retired. That's what I'm meaning by "Mostly retired." He was out of the sport barely a year after the Mir fight. And I'm not surprised the show did terrible on PPV but I guess my point is that it did better than $0.00. Can anyone confirm that UFC 151 will essentially be a wasteland and the next PPV will simply be referred to as UFC 152. What happened after that fight don't take away from the name value he still had then. Mir vs Cro Cop was still a passable main event at that time and the winner getting into title contention, and that card also had Little Nog vs a undefeated Ryan Bader as well as former champions in Sherk and Serra. That's plenty of name value and the show did terrible business. After losing Josh Koscheck to injury this show had no name value left after Jon's backed out. If they got Sonnen vs whoever would it would test the limits on just what the UFC draws on its own name with no time for Sonnen to talk it up and a opponent nobody cares about. I don't know what UFC's breakeven mark is on buys but it would have a great shot to lose more money than they are already going to drop.

Jon Jones didn't screw Dana White, Dana screwed Dana.
His comments really solidify my belief that Dana White is a humongous asshole who thinks he's always right and doesn't give a shit about what anyone else says.

Dana White is "Disguested" that Jon Jones didn't take a fight with Chael Sonnen.
Yeah, how dare he not take a fight agasint someone who just lost in an embarassing fasion in his last fight. Not to mention he's not even in Jones' division. Sadly, the MMA media is so far up Dana White's ass that nobody will call him out on those facts.

So... Why they didn't moved the Benavidez/Johnson fight scheduled to main event UFC 152 3 weeks earlier? Or did nobody thought about that option?

And it just gets weirder.
MMAFighting.com reporting that Lyoto Machida has turned down the title shot in Toronto and the new main event at 152 will be Jon Jones defending against Vitor Belfort.

I don't blame Machida for turning down the fight. I can see how he might feel disrespected, if that is the case, but he might as well try and prove the doubters wrong and take it anyways. Or maybe he turned it down for the same reasons, lack of time maybe? Weird turn.
Really don't understand the hate for Sonnen..if you really don't like him then don't you want to see him get knocked out? Nobody could possibly back up that much smack talk, but at least he's entertaining and highly skilled to boot.

Jon isn't going to like his PPV bonus that much in that fight since Belfort doesn't draw very well on PPV not to mention it has more danger than fighting Sonnen on any amount of short notice.

Also, Helwani just tweeted that there's one more piece of Holy S***! news to come tonight.
EDIT: Silva offered to fight at 151 in a LHW bout. I don't think it was an offer to fight Jones, just any 205er to save the PPV

Not to mention he's not even in Jones' division. Sadly, the MMA media is so far up Dana White's ass that nobody will call him out on those facts. You should read some of the MMA forums. You'd think Jon Jones had sex with their mothers or something. Apparently everyone was offered a title shot with Jones for Sept. 22nd. Dana: "Hello Lyoto! Great opportunity for you." Lyoto: "Pass." Dana: "Shogun? Hey it's Dana. Good news." Shogun: "Pass." Dana: "Chris Weidman, it's Dana. What do you think of fighting Jon Jones next month. I know you're a 185 guy, but you said you wanted a title shot. Not quite Spider. Whaddaya say." Weidman: "Pass." Dana: "I know you said you've retired Tito, but how about one more fight?" Tito: "Pass." Dana: "So you haven't fought in a few years, I don't care. I got a title shot for you." Liddell: "Pass." Dana: "Hello. Can I speak with Don Frye?" Don Frye's moustache: "Pass." *Dana looks at rolodex*Dana: "Vitor? Title shot. Jon Jones. Whatever." Vitor: "I'LL TAKE IT!" Dana: "Wait. What?" UFC 119. I had the pleasure of attending that one live. LOL Ewwwwww. My sympathies. I remember watching that card at a bar. If it wasn't for my buddy's birthday I probably would have left halfway through the Bader-Little Nog fight.

Belfort? What the hell? Did they not learn from Fedor vs Belfort after Barnett roided that that's a bad option!
Eh, could be fun, but what the hell.
Meanwhile Anderson Silva challenges Thiago Silva just to mess with everyone, or hell, Bigfoot Silva vs. Wanderlei Silva. UFC 151: Silvamageddon!

Oh man, Chael posted this amazing letter on his Facebook page:
Of all people Dana White could have given Jon Jones to turn down a fight with, Chael is probably first on the list of wrong guys to turn down a fight with.

Fail Sonnen will get his eventually. If I were Jon Jones, I would've accepted the fight... much like Anderson Silva at UFC 148, I see no possibility of Sonnen winning.

So weird, sooo very weird. Jones is a hated man for all of this. But for what it's worth, I think all you guys should read this. These are the reactions of many UFC fighters. www.mixedmartialarts.com/news/418115/UFC-fighters-blast-Jon-Jones/So for the people defending jones, including some in that article, it's looking like a losing effort.

I'm not necessarily defending Jones for not taking the Sonnen fight.... I just don't believe it is his fault for the PPV being cancelled. I blame Dana even more now with the information about Anderson Silva coming out. If that is true, which it seems like it is, he obviously didn't do everything he could to keep from cancelling the PPV. He cancelled the PPV as a shot at Jones, plain and simple. The fighters should be more mad at Dana and the UFC.
