The significance was James wanted to subconsciously punish himself. Pyramid Head was the worst of James embodied in a walking phallus symbol that killed others(mainly just females) with phallic weapons. The idea behind Pyramid Head is one that they sadly could milk over and over, seeing how a lot of Silent Hill protagonists were murderers that wanted to be punished. However Pyramid Head himself should stay with James and only James. I get it, Konami, Pyramid Head is the most iconic Silent Hill enemy, Silent Hill's own Nemesis. However, you don't see Capcom trying to shove Nemesis or a Nemesis expy into many subsequent Resident Evil games. He's only showed up in games that cover the events of RE3(or crossover games like UMvC3). Two things Konami needs to stop milking in the Silent Hill games: 1) Pyramid Head 2) Sexy demon nurses Or maybe it isn't Konami we need to be bitching to? Those two have really only been milked once the games shifted from Team Silent to all the various Western developers they've used. So really, Western Silent Hill developers, stop using Pyramid Head/an expy of him and the sexy demon nurses! But Pyramid Head is unique to James since James based his look on the picture of the old town executioners that he saw in the Historical Sociiety during his previous visit with Mary. The other protagonists that see him, Alex in Homecoming and Rose in the movie, should have no idea that the executioners even existed, let alone what they looked like. Silent Hil manifesting "punishers" in other forms, like the aforemntioned Butcher and Boogeyman, is reasonable but Pyramid Head makes no sense to anyone other than James. *looks at his post* *looks at the above post* *looks back at his post* That's what I said! Also, Rose had nothing to with Pyramid Head in the movie. Dahlia was the one who summoned him, to punish the members of the cult.

I mean seriously...Couldn't that idiot tell that there was something wrong in the beginning?

I've issue with PH appearing in subsequent games but I've actually no problem with him appearing in the movie. With the games chances are the bulk of buyers are returning customers already familiar with PH and understand his significance. Throwing him into the games is lazy writing and fanservice. With a movie you're trying to appeal to as wide an audience as possible, so it makes sense for them to slot in their most iconic character as he's already proven to be a major success so chances are he'll catch on with people unfamiliar with the games going into it.

Pyramid Head ripping off that girl's skin alone makes him being in the movie worth it. I'm just worried how they'll use him in the next one, because we all know they will.

Oh yeah, I'd be amazed if he didn't show up. Only problem I had with him in the movie was him being followed by the bugs.....I just didn't get it. As I'm here, the thing that annoyed me most about the SH movie? Changing Cheryl's name to Sharon. Why? What did that add to the story? What did it do except every time they said her name make people who knew the games think "It's Cheryl!"

I didn't think Downpour was disappointing.
And that's all I really have to add outside of saying "Wow, that looks really unappealing" and "Spoony's whining ruined the word Betrayal for me."

They outdid themselves when they disbanded the Suikoden team, in my eyes. Now, they're just treading murky water a little above CAPCPOM territory, only really a little of a force because they still have Kojima. Still sad to see the series whimper on like this, after the blinding brilliance of the first three games. edit: oh, I'm apparently not booked anymore. That was a long time coming since Murayama left, since Suikoden was his baby and he's one of the few people who knew where to go with the franchise. Most people working the latter Suikodens (especially Tierkreis) never had anything to do with the franchise. Well, yeah, but V was a very worthy addition to the franchise and IV was a good game, just not a very good Suikoden game. It's not like the franchise's quality went kaput when Murayama left. I think they could've kept the series going in a good direction if they really wanted to but, well, they didn't.

I gave up on Silent Hill 2 after half an hour of trundling through badly rendered fog to even start the game. I was so irritated, I couldn't bring myself to continue. Too bad. I know someone who got so freaked out by the parts in the apt. building that he returned the game because he 'didn't want it in his house'.

He's already confirmed to be in it. In fact there is a screen cap of him doing.....something with valves inside the amusement park. I guess they are having him do Valtiel's duties too?

Given the movie's set here in West Virginia (in a fictional county, but whatever), maybe they were bitten off by a beaver.

Hell, the only enemy in the game that isn't laughable is the Bogeyman. Combat is always the worst thing Silent Hill...well...one of the worst things. My point being that I avoid it as much as possible to begin with. And I don't mind enemies being weak since it seemed to fit in with the ideas at hand. {Spoiler}And considering how the more of them you killed, the more likely you'd get a negative-ish ending. The only thing that really irked me was the "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE" nonsense. It got old after the first few times. I never ever care about 'character design.' If they look humanish, then I'm good. Never really in to the whole "Uncanny Valley" thing. But I understand why others do, so while I get what you're saying, I just respectfully disagree. Also, the rail riding scene spooked me more than anything in the last three Silent Hill games. You know what part I'm meaning.

Yeah, that part was easily the most chilling scene and could hold its own against any other scene from the Silent Hill franchise.
