I can't feel sorry for someone that made who knows how much money over the course of their long and illustrious career, and is regarded as one of the biggest stars in the history of the business. He's a grown ass man he should know how to handle his money by now.

He's a grown ass man he should know how to handle his money by now. Agreed. It'd be one thing if something unforeseen and devastating had wiped out the man's finances; but every interview or story related to that has him living his character to the nth degree with seemingly no concept of being financially responsible. I'll always love the dude's performances/the entertainment value he's provided, but that is a totally separate thing from having to feel sorry for him making decades worth of bad choices and putting himself in the position he's in by having squandered millions.

Its his own fault. He could have stayed as an ambassador in the WWE or whatever the position that was they offered him, and not sour the greatest send off any wrestler has ever had..
Instead he wants to go... wrestle? I don't get it. Well he loves what hes doing I guess. Most of us never get the option to do something we truly love and make a great living at it.
Can't feel bad for someone who has that. Hes not the type of guy who is going to sit around in a rocking chair anyways. May as well die doing something he loves. No tragedy in that

At this point, Flair is such a trainwreck, I enjoy watching it all. Plus, as you mentioned, it's his own doing, so I can't feel sympathy for him YeAh I agree it's all his fault I really don't feel bad

Why can't we feel pity for people who have brought it upon ourselves. Unless we're each Jesus Christ, we all have shortcomings. Now are their limits to how much sympathy one can have. Sure. But to enjoy the fall of a man, who, entertained millions of people, including most people on this board, to me, just is sad.

I'm curious - how many people who say they feel no sympathy for the guy due to "him bringing it upon himself", would feel the same way if Ric's finances were in sparkling health, and he kept wrestling purely because he wanted to?
I feel sympathetic towards Ric because the way he has always made his living is now increasing proving to be detrimental to his health and longevity. The fact that something inside him will not let him stop putting himself at risk is tragic to me. (He has, as others have commented, the option to do the "ambassador" role for Vince, but something in Ric's make-up sees this as not being a valid option).
I'd even go so far as to say that the guy may be addicted to being a wrestler. The ambassador role would also, doubtless, allow him time to pursue other options (and bring in additional cash), but Ric seems to believe that "once a wrestler, always a wrestler", and I find that to be very sad indeed (and worthy of at least a little sympathy).

I don't feel sorry for him, no, I just think he needs the Ludovico treatment to make him feel sick whenever he considers wrestling.

Sometimes I wonder if Flair actually thinks he's "Ric Flair" if you get what I'm saying.

I thought him and Sting pulled off a decent match. Don't feel sorry for Flair. He does not need your pity. For a guy in his 60s to still be able to do what he does is amazing. Is like to see anyone who is feeling sorry for him be in half the shape he is in in their 60s. I agree with this....BUT... What he's doing now is an embarrassment to his prior legacy. He needs to stop.

Man you guys... Flair is doing what he loves,I think you have to respect that. Bad finaces or not. Bisides the match wasn't bad,I thought it was pretty good. Flair still entertains me,he wants to keep going. Let him,you don't have to watch. Daimonds are forever and so is Ric Flair

Its sad to see that Ric Flair HAS to go out there and do that stuff. If Flair had saved his money and just simply loved to wrestle I wouldn't be sad BUT the guy has to go out and kill himself.

I don't feel bad for Ric, His problems are his own fault
Now Hogan, There's a man I feel bad for. If it wasn't for Linda. He could be sitting pretty on cloud 9 right now

That is completely different, and doesn't really make sense IMO. I mean no one thinks that way about someone like Terry Funk, you just enjoy what he does now. I've already expressed my thoughts on Flair in the thread, but I will say that I don't feel sympathy for Flair, just the same as I don't have sympathy for Lawrence Taylor or any other legend from various fields that have lost virtually everything due to their poor choices. Good choices are not hard to make, and at some point in your life you need to understand that and stop living as if you're 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Basically what I'm saying is that you need to be a man.

Like the Hogan example I'm sure he was a little stupid with his money over the years (a singing career springs to mind he financed) but Linda really is the reason he has the issues he does now with money. His name still commands money so he can rebound.
Flair has money issues because he lived the Flair gimmick all the way. He didn't save and made his name worth nothing.
If Flair wasn't out there because he HAS to be because he NEEDS the money....it would be a totally different story. If he was still doing it because he loves it so much and can still go at an acceptable level....more power to him. But that's not the case.

I feel bad for Flair since he has nothing else, but wrestling. Hogan has done many other things, sometimes wrestling-related, but he does not have to step into a ring anymore. With bad matches like the one on Impact Ric is hurting his legend status. It's not as bad as Jake Roberts or Scott Hall, but he's not the Ric Flair we want to remember.
