Kurt Angle on Twitter has made claims that CM Punk shouldn't even be in the top 10 of the PWI 500, let alone #1:
Kurt Angle @realkurtangle
Punk is not in top 10. Pwi is About title Runs. Not Wrestling. Orton is Better. AJ, Roode, Aries, Me: are Better.
Kurt Angle @realkurtangle
@cmpunkd_: that's Because Kurt Angle is in Tna. I don't hate Punk. He's just Average in the Ring. Great Promos though.

Keep begging WWE to take you back and work with Punk, Kurt. Maybe someday you'll sober up and get that chance, too bad Punk will be retired by then and you'll just look like an ass (not that you don't now).

He says it's about title runs, despite the fact that Punk held the WWE title for about 10 of the 12 PWI months.

Yea, but thats his point, the PWI list is about title runs, and thats why Punk is #1, but that hes not a top 10 worker.

I agree with Kurt Angle. Take away Punk's whole 'pipe bomb' schtick and he isn't anything special imo, now Daniel Bryan on the other hand.

The thing is people massively underrate Punk's in-ring skills because he is renowned as a "pipebomb dropper". He always has been underrated. By the RoH fans he wasn't as respected as he should have been until he was on the verge of leaving. Then he was built up as amazing to the perspective fans before his debut on WWE TV. He couldn't live up to the hype (NO-ONE COULD HAVE). Then people were waiting for something truly special which came via his "pipebomb" speech last year in which people seemed to think he was a great mic worker as opposed to a great in-ring worker (why can't you be both?) I love Kurt, and at times I feel like the only one who decides to defend him on here, but nowadays I'd much rather watch a CM Punk match than a Kurt Angle match. He really needs to get over his own ego. Shame too, because I really love the guys body of work, I wish he'd let me fully enjoy it rather than acting like a douche at all times.

As far as pure in-ring work right now, I think Punk is top 10 (higher than Angle at this point), but I agree with all of the other names that Angle listed as far as who is better than Punk right now. Throw in Bryan and Ziggler as well. Add mic skills and charisma and all that to the mix, and its a completely different story, with Punk probably being #1, but as far as just in-ring work, id put at least 5 or 6 guys in WWE/TNA ahead of him. That still puts him in elite company, but yeah.

What a schmuck. He clearly wants back in WWE to work a program with Punk, but honestly, I hope he never gets it. The last think we need is to see Punk gingerly working around whatever injury comes next for Angle because he doesn't know how to dial it back.

He almost never does stuff like that, it would be a real treat!

Kurt is way too concerned with those types of things. He's the kind that'll do interviews and talk about him putting on a 'five star match' on the next PPV or something.

1997. Dean Malenko is number 1. He was world champion how long? One the same note. RVD in 02. When in the period had a couple title shots. Really though the 500 is not what it was. The whole magazine is just based on mainstream. That is why WWE talent when 90% of rewards because the fans who vote most only see the WWE.

Guess those matches on Jakked and Metal in early 2000's paid off. Kurt needs to be happy about his own legacy instead of trying to tear down others.

Guess those matches on Jakked and Metal in early 2000's paid off. That was the year that he was TNA champ for 7 months. And in Malenko's case, they even explained that no one in '97 had a truly dominant title run, so they had to do it based on in-ring work, and Malenko got it.

Kurt is way too concerned with those types of things. He's the kind that'll do interviews and talk about him putting on a 'five star match' on the next PPV or something. The worst was this triple threat title match with Jeff Hardy and someone else, and the week before he match he said something like "I've put the match together already, it's a 5 star match." I've never heard another wrestler say something that annoying. Of course the match was some over-choreographed spotfest.

Didn't Juventud use his placement one year to explain why he deserved a push?

There is no bigger Kurt Angle mark than... Kurt Angle.
He really needs to avoid social media.

This seems less Kurt giving an honest opinion and more him still being sore that Punk called him out on the Twitter hacking thing a while back, that's the thing.
