That's almost laughable to say Angle can't tell an in-ring story like Punk and Bryan. He can't and his TNA run has proven it, IMO. He's Davey Richards unless someone like Shawn, Taker or Jarrett are there to slow his ass down. I dont know, his stuff with Anderson, Wolfe, Jarrett as you mentioned, etc were fantastic matches that told good stories. I think he just gets caught up in trying to make every single one of his matches THE GREATEST MATCH OF ALL TIME, even matches with no sort of real backstory or meaning. And in those cases, it just ends up as a finisher fest with 1000 nearfalls, or as you said, Davey Richards style.

Yeah, I did leave out a few and when working with the right people he can tell a good story, I won't deny that, but when left to his own, to lead a match, they always seem to turn into the DR/ROH finisher fests and that is why I feel he needs someone to slow him down or lead him. It's why I dread most Angle matches, I know they will look great but nothing matters until the 8 millionth ankle lock or Angle Slam attempt before anything actually matters.

I don't think matches with lots of kick-outs are always bad. I dislike the idea that a finisher is an instant match ender unless it looks completely devastating (and a lot of them don't).

They aren't all bad and do have their place (major matches, I am talking, since this is TNA, Lockdown, BFG, DX level shows) but when nearly every match you have features 5313 nearfalls from finishers and countless other escapes from submissions because you have no grasp of how to do anything out side of that, you really cannot tell a story and thus wrestle worth a shit and that is where Angle is. All Angle has accomplished is making the Angle Slam, Ankle Lock look bad and that kills his matches.

I think there's a happy medium here. Angle, at ONE POINT, was absolutely one of the most phenomenal workers out there, although I do think he has/had "Kerry Von Erich Syndrome", where he tends to work to the level of his opponent. Now, though, he can really only do a few things well without risking injury or aggravating an old injury.

1997. Dean Malenko is number 1. He was world champion how long? One the same note. RVD in 02. When in the period had a couple title shots. Really though the 500 is not what it was. The whole magazine is just based on mainstream. That is why WWE talent when 90% of rewards because the fans who vote most only see the WWE. And throw in Random Japanese Wrestler in the Top 10 as a sense of "legitimacy".

I wouldn't sell Angle short in the ring. I hate the way most of his matches nowadays end up being finisher fests, but I still think he could put on some good matches in WWE.
My problem with him is that he buys into his own hype too damn much. EVERYONE knows how great Kurt was. Now he's just chasing the past. It's Punk's time now, and he seems like a jealous has-been when he says the things he says these days.
He needs to realize that we already know how great he was, and stop talking about it already.
