I'm kinda liking it to be honest guys. It's a solid action game and the story fits the RE mythos better than some other things we've seen. That being said, I'm on Live right now as S1mplyMantastic so if any of you fellas are interested, we could tear up some co-op or Mercs. That's the problem. It is an action game. RE isn't an action game series.

I know, I've posted many many times about my distaste for 4 and 5 for moving in a more action direction but you do what you have to do to keep the series fresh and at least they're doing what they're doing well in this one. There's no point in me hating a game I spent $90 just because it's not the same play style they retired 11 years ago.

I don't mind the change in tone of the games but due to Capcom's insistence on the co-op thing I'm done with the series personally

Is it just me or are you always having to run from everything?

I picked up my copy last night but haven't opened it after reading all the negative reviews on the internet. Is it THAT bad? As for my taste in the series...I liked the original - Code Veronica X & the GC Remake of the 1st. 4 and 5 were just okay in my opinion.
Any advice would be good so I know if I should get my $60 bucks back or just go ahead and give it a try.

The camera sure is pretty damn close to you in this game. I started Jake's campaign first, and I have to say the part with the snow mobile made me want to eat my own soul.

Yeah, all the vehicle stuff they've added in is pretty rough.
Honestly, I didn't evenh hate the game. But I'd say wait until it's cheaper before buying it.
It's pretty forgettable.
I'd suggest that if you want to play a Resident Evil game in a more traditional RE game style, Revelations is a much better choice, and really a much better game.

It is funny that of the 3 RE games Capcom released this year, the only one that is truly good is the one they sent to die on the 3DS.

I've been playing and besides the slow paced walking I'm enjoying Leon's campaign.

Offical UK Playstation Magazine Review in case anyone is interested. In a nutshell: - Leon's campaign is the best combining elements of Resident Evil 2 and 4. Your milage may vary on that but those are my two favourite games in the series so that suits me fine. - Jake's campaign has the most variety and balance and if you can ignore that the game is called Resident Evil then you should get fun out of it. - Chris' campaign is the weakest, hampered by poorly balanced gameplay and awful characterisation that makes Chris come off as a total dick. To top it off it's just plain boring with "one of the worst boss encounters ever commited to disc" (their words). - Overall they feel that it's just about worth it for the content and variety but they feel with a bit of trimming it could have been a tighter and more enjoyable experience. They give it 7/10.

IMO, the first half of Leon's campaign is good, Chris' is boring for the most part, and Jack's isn't bad, but is a little irritating at points. {Spoiler}Ada's is probably the best of the four just for varietys sake.
Also I'd say while Chris had my least favourite campaign, had also the best designed final boss.

I was watching a playthrough of "Calling" on YouTube last night and it hit me. It was the bare basics that REALLY got to you when you played Resident Evil. I remember the days when I would be nervous as hell just to walk down a hall or open a door. The atmosphere of past games just sucked you into that world. They lost sight of the simple stuff. When watching that Calling game, the character walking down the hall and getting calls from the demon, letting the player know it was getting closer, was more scary than anything I've seen out of Resident Evil in years. Capcom keeps wanting to call this "action horror." That phrase is an oxymoron. It contradicts itself. If something is too action-packed, the game doesn't give you enough time to let the "horror" aspect sink in, meaning you won't be scared. There's a big difference in seeing something scary and actually being scared. It's ashame that Capcom has lost sight of that. They can throw all the 50-foot monsters at me that they want, but if I'm not actually affected by the game's horror aspect, what's the point?

They can throw all the 50-foot monsters at me that they want, but if I'm not actually affected by the game's horror aspect, what's the point? Honestly, action horror is basically like American horror. It is action packed, has to rely on very cheap scares, and leans way too much on the crutch that is gore. For the longest time, though, survival horror(which is what nearly all of the action horror series have evolved from), was like Japanese horror(gee, I wonder why? It can't be because most survival horror games were made by Japanese studios. ), putting a lot more focus on inducing the feeling of dread, atmosphere was more important that cheap scares(though they still had them), and while there was gore, survival horror games weren't leaning so heavily on them like action horror does. And that's possibly the main reason I don't like the shift from survival horror to action horror. It is going from Japanese horror to American horror. While I do like some modern day American horror films, they just aren't scary to me anymore. Japanese horror still scares me because it mostly deals in spirits/the paranormal and people who are just mentally f***ed up. American horror doesn't because I know the evil thing is just a person in a costume(often a silly looking costume at that).

Yeah, not to go off-topic, but that was some good stuff. Even though the hallway bit dragged on for too long, the atmosphere at least kept it pretty tense, and Matt acting like a little bitch through it all while Pat antagonized him for it was fun. Their previous video, Call of Cthulhu, gave me one of the biggest jump scares I've had in a long time. If you seen it, then I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about.

Is the only way I can describe Resi 6 (In My opinion).
And don't think it's because I'm some old coot who can't hangle the series new direction.
I LOVE "Resident Evil 4" (Still) and I also enjoyed 5, 5 was flawed but still an enjoyable game.
6 is just a complete disaster
- QTE - Fair enough the series had some before, But 6 takes the piss - Collision Detection is awful - Enemies take WAY too much damage - Graphics are poor - Nothing but set pieces - Weapon upgrade gone and replaced by a crap skill system - Clunky & awkward inventory Menu
Resident Evil 6 is a bigger dissapointment than Phantom Menace & Crystal Skull
To me Dead Space is the Quintessential Survival Horror game
I DO like how you can move and aim/shoot now, Took em long enough
