Hmm, for starters, in one of the Civilization games, and Alpha Centauri. For the first half of the game, you only do a number of small skirmishes with other Civilizations. Nothing too big, just some defensive stuff due to an annoying enemy Civilization being an ass.
And then, once you're 'round the parts where you have gun infantry, you start massing your army. Bonus points when you're facing off with a very evenly matched force. With those things as factor... war begins. All out war where you're just invading and defending at the same time. A no surrender type of deal where all one wants to do is conquer all the opponent's territory. Always fun to do that.

Driving a motorbike down the neon surroundings of South Beach while listening to Billie Jean the first time I played Vice City.
So many from the Mario series from finding the warp zones, to kuribo's shoe to blasting into space for the first time.
Finally catching 'em all in Pokemon Blue, the series just hasn't been the same since.
Hitting a babality in a Mortal Kombat tournement at school in front of cheering crowd, who'd have thought playing Mortal Kombat with a keyboard would work?

The huge factory chimney falling in Half Life 2. It doesn't seem like much now but in 2004 when I'd not played an actually new game in years that left my jaw hanging open at how awesome it was.

I mostly play sports games, but it feels great when you play through an entire season and win the championship. Gives much more of a complete feeling. Granted, this would take forever with MLB and NBA...which is why I'll do 40 game seasons plus all playoff games and still get the same complete season feel.

Same thing I still feel and do today on NBA 2K12 and My Player...Skip all the games I can which really isnt much, win when I have to, and if we make the playoffs I play every game and accept defeat without rage quiting...Theirs always next year

THAT moment in Bioshock.
Realising I can just wander aimlessly around Hells Kitchen in Deus Ex and play basketball.
Walking out of the cell in Oblivion and seeing the world for the first time.
The first time you fight a Dragon in Skyrim.
Flying a TIE Advanced, the first good ship you can fly, in TIE Fighter.
I could go on and on, these are just a few.

NASCAR Thunder 2002 at Daytona (the night one). I was playing as the unlockable pace car (Buster Auton is the name), and was running third with about a half lap to go. There are two cars out front (Dale Jr. and Jeff Green) with about a half-second gap. Low and behold, I get a nice side-draft, catch the two, and pass them both at the line!
Margin of victory?
0.001 in front of Jr. 0.002 in front of Green.

The most fun I've had in gaming is from the old Lucasarts point and click games. Monkey Island 1 and 2, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle. All awesome stories and so entertaining.
To second Ctulhu, doing a full game of Civilization in a day was always fun. I remember still having chariots in 1998. Plus any setting other than Chieftain was practically impossible, I would try it on a harder level and find my legions getting killed by rifleman in about 900 BC.
In later days, playing Bioshock and Dead Space. Two great immersive worlds.
One of the false endings in Red Dead Redemption. Not to give away a spoiler but the part where the song Compass starts playing.
Starting a drive from Los Santos to San Fierro when Freebird comes on the radio.

I was playing a triple threat match on No Mercy with some friends. I was playing with JBL (Love the edit feature) My two friends were Austin and Kane. They basically took turns dominating me early on. Then started wrestling each other. It was a crazy match. With each one of us breaking up pinfalls and submissions with the other.
Eventually, after about 30 minutes, Austin hit the stunner on Kane. When he was going for the pinball, I threw a chair at Austin and knocked him down. Ran over and pinned Kane for the win. It was a perfect chicken-crap heel move. It was probably my shining moment as a No Mercy player.

Mortal Kombat, 1993. I walked into the arcade and saw a 16 year old kid dominating a bunch of 10 year olds, and being a total dick about it. I walked over, dropped two quarters in, and picked Johnny Cage. Round 1: he jumps at me with Scorpion, I do two quick jumping punches to knock him in the air, and then shadow kicked. The shadow kick somehow timed itself so that it hit him right as his feet would have hit the floor, so it did it for full damage. After that, I jumped in like I was going for the regular jumping kick, but went into Cage's ball punch. It looked like I just jumped in and stood there for a second, so the other dude went for an uppercut, and got punched in the balls. I stood back up, threw him, and the dude walked away from the game.
