I only know the guy because I follow the NWA but 100% the wrong choice.
Steve Corino lives 35 minutes from where this event was hosted tonight. You could of got Corino for the amount it cost to pay/fly/lodge this guy.

So they went to the trouble of setting up a tournament, then had a guy who wasn't even in the tournament win it? Am I reading that right?
If so, SMH. What a waste of effort.

Here's a run down of what's happened for the people that don't follow NWA:
- As we all know last week Pearce and Cabana said they didn't want the belt because it didn't mean anything and the belt was vacated
- NWA DAWG was having one of their bigger events and was using a few name talents (Anthony Nese, Damien Wayne and some other NWA favorites)
- Instead of the NWA setting up a big 1-2 month tournament with big names and an alliance wide tournament it was moved to the big NWA DAWG card which was expected to draw big.
- NWA DAWG's show was a fund raiser for a little girl that died hence they couldn't use profits from the show to book any name talent to make it seem like a big deal. NWA apparently paid for Chance Prophet to join the show along with another guy (Erickson I believe) to come and wrestle (For the price and flight of those t wo guys alone you could of had a name talent included of decent value)
- In the week leading up to the show the entire IWC and NWA Fans in general began shitting on the selections in the match.
- The NWA recognizes there's an issue and instead of paying someone like Steve Corino, Delirious or any other wrestlers close to Jersey to come in they flew Kahagas from Florida to Jersey to win the NWA Title and swerve everyone.
- The sad thing with all of this is the NWA could of had a decent 1 month tournament. In the next month NWA promotions have Raven and Mike Mondo (Spirit Squad Mikey) working cards.
They could of started the tournament tonight with Damien Wayne Vs Anthony Nese and advertised that next month at NWA DAWG that the World Title would be decided. Tomorrow night Raven is working the NWA against Kahagas,
Basically the long story short? NWA messed up and spent 600-700 dollars to get this Kahagas guy to the show and have him win the World Title to swerve the 30-40 hardcore NWA fans.

Based on what polejump said, I bet one Internet that Raven wins the belt tomorrow.

It doesn't matter if Cabana didn't want it. He didn't win it in Australia.
Pearce not wanting it however is a bigger news item

Yeah, but because of the NWA not sanctioning the last match as a title match, they both threw the title down.

If they raised enough money for the fundraiser, then I guess it wasn't a complete waste.

I'm just about one letter away from being your new NWA champion.
Hoping/Dreading I wake up tomorrow to hear that I've been selected as the next guy to have a run with the belt.

That sure looks like a guy I can compare to Harley Race and say "Yeah, they were both NWA Champions."
Hell, I could even size him up next to Dan Severn. I can see it.

I'm very familiar with Kahagas. Not the sexiest pick but right now they don't have any real options left. The problem of putting the belt on a high demand wrestler is their time to work for your company is limited and their asking price is going to be higher than their budget. So big names like Corino are out. If you been following Raven's career the last few years, you'll realize he either can't or won't go in the ring. The Raven of old is nevermore. Than you are left with the bottom dwellers. Guys who never got a chance to make a real name for themselves. Guys who are willing to work cheap and bust their ass for a shot of glory. And that's how you got the new NWA champion. Just wonder how much he paid to get the belt because the time honored tradition is you play politics and a pay with a check to get a title run.

I'm more excited to see the "original" National Heavyweight title in the photo, to be honest. I haven't seen that belt since Tully Blanchard held the thing.
