Ok, same deal as our UK election threads:
- Absolutely NO flaming or flame baiting. Remember, just because we're picking the next leader of the free world doesn't mean we have to get heated.
- You're free to talk about the campaign in general, who you voted for and why you support/don't support them, but keep the rumors and mudslinging to yourself. Stick with the facts.
- No "propaganda" pics.
- Don't attack ideologies, don't vilify any political parties, don't wish violence/harm on any political figure.
- Everything, and we mean everything pertaining to the 2012 campaign is to be kept in this ONE thread ONLY, regardless if it's at the federal, state or local levels.
The thread will stay open until sometime Wednesday.

Wow, I'm super glad the mods are allowing this! I read the rules and as far as I can tell it doesn't break any rules, but here is an Obama endorsement (focusing on wrestling!): bit.ly/QiaFnOShould be an interesting day tomorrow! Anyone else following the Linda McMahon race as well? The Democratic candidate has been outperforming her in the polls by a considerable amount since early October so I doubt we'll see a McMahon in the Senate.

Oh well in that case, I'm very proud to say that I'll be voting for the very first time tomorrow and I'll be voting to re-elect President Obama.

Um, my only thing is I hate how there's this "JUST GET OUT AND VOTE - it doesn't even matter who you vote for or what you believe, but VOTE VOTE VOTE" attitude in the past few elections. Wouldn't people rather have educated, informed, rational voters? Or do they just want people randomly voting just to vote?
Honestly, I haven't liked a presidential candidate in the past 16 years so I've never put my vote behind them and I don't believe in voting for 'the lesser of two evils' either as that's just as bad as voting for someone you don't believe in.
The other half of the "JUST VOTE!!!!" stuff is "Well if you don't vote, then you don't have the right to complain!" Which just seems like the strangest kind of leveraging peer pressure to get someone to vote when they don't support either candidate.
Honestly - if people put as much time/money/effort into actually working in their personal, daily life to affect change as they do in following election coverage, cajoling others into voting and patting themselves on the back for doing so, a real difference might, might actually be made.

This. So much. I was talking to someone oversees about the election and we disagreed so he said "well you don't have the right to talk about it since you don't vote." When I got off the phone I thought to myself 'Wait, did I just get told that by someone who isn't even a citizen?'

But don't get me wrong, I'm all for voting in local elections and city/state ballot measures - that was more in reference to the Presidential election.

Could somebody give me or direct me to an impartial rundown of all the bad s*** each guy brings to the table? I don't feel like I know completely what I'm getting into. Right now I think they both suck with Obama being the lesser evil in all this.
