I love how pretty much everyone who's griping about how Leia looked are ignoring the fact that, for all intents and purposes, she SHOULD look like that in-universe. Between all the trauma she's undergone, being the Rebel and then Resistance leader... stress ages people, dammit. Just look at presidents or other politicians before/after their terms in office.

I thought she looked fine. I wasn't expecting Leia from Return of the Jedi and I don't think you should. Han didn't exactly look good either. They're older and people age. Especially ones that are under incredible stress.

The movie is smashing records financially and has been critically well received.
Naturally George Lucas hates it.

Pretty much this. Obama looks ancient due to stress now. Not that much of a stretch to think someone who's dealt with two genocidal organizations and a lame duck republic would age quickly.

He claims that The Force Awakens didn't do anything "new" despite the fact that not only were there plenty of a new planets, characters, ships, and plot points introduced, but the recurring characters never overshadowed the new ones. I mean, it's cool if Lucas didn't like it, but the interview I posted doesn't make it seem like he even saw the film.

Now he wants to see new things?
Whatever happened to "ya know, it repeats, like poetry"?

Somebody could create a Star Wars fanboy debate between two George Lucas using clips of him contradicting himself.

I'm sure Bob Iger has been on the phone today saying "George, shut up"

You heard that everyone, Mr. "Let's visit Tatooine in 5 out of 6 films" (with the one exception being the one film he had the least control over) is complaining about TFA not doing enough "new" for him. Wasn't he just saying like two weeks ago that TFA was "really good"?

Aside, but if you're someone who wants some personal insight into George, check out the (admittedly long, and sad, and spellbinding) read on Marcia Lucas, their marriage, and her contributions to the films. On top of (in part) explaining why George handles things the way he does, it gives a fair shake to someone who contributed very tangibly to the success of the first films and doesn't get nearly enough credit for it - Marcia's editing arguably saved the first Star Wars, and she edited Yoda and Vader's death scenes in Jedi too - and whose absence is sorely felt across the prequels.

Wasn't he just saying like two weeks ago that TFA was "really good"? George Lucas is the Honkey Tonk Man of Hollywood.

Yeah, but you see, there are some people coming out of the woodwork defending the prequels and criticizing the movie now (they may not dwarf the sizeable and satisfied majority, but they exist) so he's making himself available to them so they feel vindicated

Lucas hasn't been the same since RLM's reviews. My guess is that he watched them, then suffered a mental breakdown.

With a SW movie every year I wonder if it won't hurt the brand after year 4 or 5

With a SW movie every year I wonder if it won't hurt the brand after year 4 or 5 Marvel have largely gone from strength to strength over the last eight years, so I don't see why not. If anything, limiting it to just one new SW film per year (as opposed to 2-3 Marvel films) probably helps.

Saw something the other day one of the titles for the movie was Shadows of the Empire. So we might see Dash one of these days. Seems he still got some fans out there
