Mostly because I always have. That's not to say that I don't enjoy the show most of the time, but the main thing that keeps me tuned in every week and following it is that I've invested 27 years in this and if I stopped, it'd be a pretty big omission. The WWE is this one, long, ridiculous, wacky story that's been continuously told for decades. Which is kind of crazy when you think about it. There's never been a pure "reboot" or anything, every show has built off, in some way, what happened the week before. Since the 1950s.

Characters.
If I like the character, as a face or a heel, then the storylines and matches can suck as much as is possible and I'll still be interested.
I am no fan of Cena, but I bought Wrestlemania because I wanted to watch The Rock wrestle again. Other matches sweetened the deal, but at the end of the day, that match is what sold me. The match wasn't that great and the promos were mixed quality, but that match is still one of the greatest moments of my wrestling fandom and I wouldn't want that money back in exchange for not seeing it live.
The same is true of Summerslam 2006. I'd not been a fan for years by that point, but then I saw a Box Office advert for Summerslam 2006. I saw that Foley was wrestling (unaware that he'd wrestled plenty more times by that point) and immediately knew I wanted to buy it, even though he was wrestling Flair who at the time I didn't appreciate. I saw Sabu wrestling Big Show on the card too and I was there, even though the main event was Edge (which was a total WTF for me) against some guy called John Cena who I'd never heard of.

Stories, especially the cheesy, over the top soap opera stuff that never stops being funny.

The theater. So I suppose something different. There is nothing else in our culture like wrestling. A narrative that's been running nonstop for decades, that not only tries to tell stories but does so in the form of live performances, where real life can and does interject to influence the direction things go in.

The absurdity of it.
RAW's and PPV's are LIVE, and no matter how much you think you know, you will still see something unexpected on a frequent basis.
Where else can you see abortions performed with Steel Chairs where the end result is a poem told by a guy in a cut-off tuxedo during a wedding that gets interrupted by the Devil's Favorite Demon.. and everybody ends up laughing?

The stories and matches coming together. You just give me a PPV filled with matches with no backstory to them, why should I care? By the same token though, I don't want every week to be entirely filled with talking or anything.

I watch Raw for stories/characters (I love ridiculous stuff like the current AJ/Cena/Vickie thing or Cena/Kane/Eve/Zack earlier this year) and I watch pay-per-views more for the actual wrestling.

Yeah but a good storyline leads to a match I want to see.. Like the rise of Batista or HBK vs Undertaker. It's both.

Crazy, Weird, goofball stuff like 90% of Kane's angles, or Bookdust, or Boogeyman, or Pirate Paul, or The Trial of Eric Bischoff, the ECW Zombie, or MNMiz making fun of Festus.

Wrestling.
Give me good wrestling and I'll watch. The characters and storylines should only be there to help enhance the wrestling.

Matches. Good matches though. If it was a choice between Tensai vs Khali or a stupid 15 minute promo segment with AJ/Cena then I might take the promo.

The matches tell the best stories. But yeah, I've always been into the matches mostly, but some matches that lack an angle going with them can be a bit boring. But for the most part, I like good wrestling.

I can't answer because you need both of the top two answers. They literally can't survive without the other.

A mixture of those, wrestling's unique nature and inherent ridiculousness, it just offers something you can't get elsewhere.

I can't answer because you need both of the top two answers. They literally can't survive without the other. I think they're one and the same. The matches aren't athletic contests, though when done well they should appear to be. They are just as much performance and storytelling as the other segments.

I watch it because of the "backstage" stuff that is covered online as much as what happens on TV. If it was just a show with no way of knowing what's going on behind the scenes, I'd have stopped watching when I was a kid.
I also like the whole carny aspect of the business.

I watch it because it's like a live action comic book. If you take out the over the top characters and epic storylines, the actual act of "wrestling" alone is one of the goofiest things on television.

I watch because of the matches.
It is called pro wrestling for a reason.
If I wanted great storylines, I would go watch a TV drama instead.
A great match will IMO always be better then a great promo.
