No cop out or wishy washy answers. You can only choose one. What is the main draw in pro wrestling for you?
For me it's the wrestling itself. Stories in wrestling tend to be either weak, repetitive, or so convoluted to the point where if I try to focus on them too much I go crazy. But I love the athleticism and action aspect of it. I feel there is nothing more satisfying in pro wrestling than losing yourself into a great match.
What draws you in?

The stories. To be precise, the cheesy Kane type stuff and the underdog Ryder type stuff.

Me: The storylines.
It's what bonds what we watch together isn't it? If you watch for the wrestling, and only the wrestling sans storyline - what would we be watching for?
Two guys in the ring, who we know aren't really fighting, and without the storyline we cannot even pretend to have a reason for it. So it has to be storylines. Is for me anyway. They make the matches have meaning, when without they'd be totally meaningless.
It's like a boxing match. A boxing match between two people you suspect (or have been hyped to believe) hate each other is a MUCH more intriguing contest than two boxing professionals who are completely indifferent to one and other.
Same goes for football, soccer, baseball. The 'storyline' builds towards it. Wrestling doesn't have the edge of real competitiveness other sports do, so it relies on storylines even heavier.
If it was just two guys in their trunks wrestling each other for no apparent reason - I wouldn't watch. I'm sure of it.

That's not what this is about. It's about how you balance between the two. Plus the great matches always have a story intwined within itself so looking it your way doesn't work anyway. For example would you prefer a wrestling show with 80% storyline stuff and 20% wrestling, or vice versa? That's what I'm asking.

Got to be the stories. My favorite matches are matches like HHH vs Taker, Brock vs Cena, etc.
Not technical masterpieces, but they tell a great story. If I wanted great technical in ring stuff I would watch ROH, which I rarely do anymore (not hating on it in anyway, just not for me)

The stories.
Wrestling wise, I like guys who may or may not be good technically, but are charismatic showmen in the ring, like The Rock, John Cena, MVP, Zack Ryder, Alex Riley, etc.

Mainly for the wrestling. I do like a good storyline as well, but when I'm in the mood for that I usually just watch a TV drama or an anime.

The stories. Without them there is absolutely no reason to even pay attention to the wrestling. I know it's not real so I at least need some context to get me sucked in to what is happening, and the stories do that for me.
It's why i cannot get into independent or japanese wrestling. The stories are so bland and generic and usually boil down to I WANT YOUR BELT or I AM BETTER THAN YOU.

I enjoy the matches more so now than I ever had before. Some of the other segments bore me to tears.

I guess the stories more than anything, but the matches are key! Also, I will absolutely watch matches where I have no idea what the storyline is if the matches are quality. I guess that is why I've been watching so much Puro lately

I'd say a mixture of both. I love wrestling matches, but I like good wrestling matches with good stories behind them leading up to the match. I feel more invested in wrestling with good storylines, instead of a good match between 2 guys without any reason behind them facing each other.

For me it is the wrestling and the storyline revolving around it,Cause I like a good story along with my wrestling so I get a feel of who I am watching.

Storylines mostly.
Good matches are nice, and much better than say train wrecks.... but if that's all there was to it? There's Boxing and MMA which are legitimate tests of skill and I don't watch either of them.

If it was just two guys in their trunks wrestling each other for no apparent reason - I wouldn't watch. I'm sure of it. I recall RD from WrestleCrap mentioning an episode of "The Ultimate Fighter" where these two guys got into it big time and had to be seperated. They got put into the Octagon at the end of the show. RD said he thought "Oh, man, this is going to be great", but then the fight happened and was incredibly boring. If two fighters have no dislike towards each other, are they not going to try as hard or something? And if they hate each other, what can they do about it? It will still be an athletic contest with rules, not a street fight, so it will still come down to skill, preperation, etc., just like in any other MMA fight. Once the fight actually starts, I don't see how it's relevent whether the fighters hate each other or not. It's like that HHH/Orton match at WM 25. Total hatred and intensity in the hype, and the actual match was boring as hell. Same goes for non-combat sports. Would you rather watch a nail biter between two random teams, or your favorite team vs. their bitter rivals in a total blow out? Personally, I'd rather watch the exciting game.

Stories. In that, I include the crazy characters, the huge presentation, the whole spectacle. People like to call it a soap opera, but I liken it more to comic books. Larger than life characters going at each other. That's not to say I don't love an amazing wrestling match, but as expressed above, without the rest, its just MMA, and that bores me to tears.

I watch it because it relishes itself in being that absolute most consistently absurd thing on television.
