3 hours is killing them, people just can't stay for a full 3 hour Raw. For a special episode it's one thing, but every week is another story.

Holy cow, that's over 15% of their audience that they're losing in the third hour.
I heard on F4W that apparently the WWE is only making about $180,000 from that third hour. Is it worth it when the audience is getting burnt out and tuning off?

Is it worth it when the audience is getting burnt out and tuning off? To WWE it's not and this is what they reportedly feared but to USA this is very much worth it. It's equal to or slightly less than what they were getting for NCIS but much younger so far more valuable.

Yeah, which is apparently half of what they're making from the other two hours. Well that makes sense. Half of 2 hours is 1 hour.

I've heard arguments for them overall making more money from advertising from 3 hours compared to 2, but here's my thought on why this hurts more than just some money. All those people that tune out for the third hour miss the main event shenanigans in full, and probably catch the shortened youtube, hulu, or just read the results. Seeing a condensed version of what happens simply cannot give someone the same engagement as seeing the whole thing. So possibly you get live crowds with a larger % that only followed the main event storylines through a 2 minute clip, so they haven't reacted as well. Also, I dvr raw. I know I've had to make some adjustments to make sure the 3 hours records. Maybe in homes with more people fighting for space dvring raw is more of an issue?

Yeah, which is apparently half of what they're making from the other two hours. Well that makes sense. Half of 2 hours is 1 hour. I meant they're making $350,000 from each of the normal two hours, and $180,000 from that third hour. Apparently.

From F4W/WO:
Rough (just the way your mother likes it, Trebek! No, but really, they need to get back to two hours, post-haste).

Three hours + Punk being a terrible ratings draw = bad, bad combination.

The ad thing can't even be used as justification because 100% of the ad money goes to USA Network.

Do 3 hours until the Raw after Wrestlemania, and then it's time to go back. For all the people that say we'll see less storyline development and matches as a result, remember that we now have Main Event, and obviously there's still Smackdown.
But yeah, as I suggested in the other thread, why not do 3-hour Raws from the night after Elimination Chamber until the night after Wrestlemania to allow for some more extensive build-up and to reach out to returning fans, and then have 3-hour specials for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Slammys etc?

I really think the storylines right now are incredibly bland and crappy. I like Punk as much as the next guy, but it does seem very coincidental that many of the worst rated Raw's over the past year have seen Punk main event the show. I think someone brought up last week the 'top' 10 worst overruns in Raw history, and Punk was involved in virtually every one. Not saying its only his fault, but at this stage it does seem that Punk isn't a ratings draw. I remember the Smackdown ratings took a tumble when he was feuding with Jeff.
