So Drew McIntyre, the man who in his entire career has showed a great deal more personality than Daniel Bryan ever has, is being jobbed out to a comedy character, while Bryan retains the WHC in a throw-away match on Smackdown.
It has seriously gotten to the point where I just don't want Bryan on my TV anymore. He is grating, over-hyped, and just bland on every level. Ironic. About a year ago I said the same exact thing about McIntyre. It's a full turn around. Frankly, Bryan should be the one jobbing to Santino instead of hauling around the strap. That title should be on someone like Barrett, or Sheamus. Hell, I'll take Orton over him. Anything to stop the Reign of Mundane.

I like Bryan as a wrestler and he has developed his personality a bit, but he shouldn't be anywhere near the main event scene for at least a year or two more.

Personally Daniel Bryan just screams career midcarder to me, basically if the ECW Title still existed, that's the highest point he'd ever reach in his career.
Other than that, maybe a heel Bryan might be more interesting.

Add me to the list of people who don't see why Bryan is the world champion, especially going into Wrestlemania.
The only way Bryan in a world title match at Wrestlemania would have worked would be against Miz. They have the history and Miz has enough heat to get Bryan over enough at least during that feud.

... okay, I'm really glad I haven't been the only one thinking that Daniel Bryan has been really boring so far. He's good in the ring, but I'm just so bored by him whenever he's on my screen. I think part of it right now is that he doesn't really seem to have much of a character/gimmick besides "face/underdog". If he gets more of a character, I could warm to him.

I like Bryan's wrestling, but personally I watch the WWE because of the characters, not the wrestling. So Bryan kinda loses me there.

He's really far better as a heel. I mean I like the guy, the fact he's the underdog and I like his wrestling but he did feel a bit bland as a face. 2 nights ago when he "officially became a heel" (well I'm saying that because the crowd instantly started to boo him when he came out for the Big Show match) he acted like he had personality. He's feeling himself a bit more. He's truly becoming himself.
Bad analogy but it's like when someone's singing or rapping. They know the lyrics but they aren't putting emotion in and they aren't feeling it so it sounds like they're reading off a paper. Once they really flow with the song though and put some emotion in you feel the song truly. Bryan's finally starting to flow with the song in the WWE while before it didn't work out. I'd appreciate if he was a heel for a good while THEN turned face. It would mean more.

I start liking a wrestler because of their character/mannerisms/what-have-you, then I tend to latch onto and pay more attention to their skills as a wrestler.

Off-Ring personality/mannerism x Wrestling skills So if the persons has nothing of one,i wont like.Tough i probaly like more charisma and mannerisms, since MVP is my favourite wrestler

I definitely am first and foremost interested in a wrestler due to character and mannerisms, but if they enter the ring and can't do s***, my liking of that wrestler will most probably end right then and there, haha. In-ring talent only increases my delight and probable flailing over a wrestler I like. Although, I do like Sin Cara, so some people could throw that in my face (although I personally don't think he's as bad as some people say he is, but that's a topic for another thread, not this one).

Personal take for me is that in-ring talent is nice and all, but you don't need to have it and it alone isn't enough to make someone interesting.

If they're NOT gonna carry Bryan with the title through 'Mania, then the Smackdown title scene is officially a mess on the road to Wrestlemania. If it wasn't a plan to lead into 'Mania, he shouldn't have won the belt in December. This is the time to be building to 'Mania, where the main events start taking shape.
Now, I'm firmly behind Face Bryan as champ, BUT if they're not serious about him, putting the belt on him on the road to Wrestlemania was a big mistake.

Wow, if we think Daniel is boring, imagine what the average fan thinks? The WWE did a great job ruining the guy.

The WWE did a great job ruining the guy. I wouldn't blame the booking; some guys just aren't cut out to be stars, and a small, pasty guy without much of a personality whose moves aren't very flashy is always going to be a tough sell to the majority of the fans.

If you don't mind me asking, what is it that makes Daniel Bryan in his current form bland? Is it that his mic skills aren't necessarily setting the world on fire? Is it a lack of a truly, defined character? Is it Cole's constant criticism seeping into our collective subconscious? ( ) I'm happy for him being as high up in the card as he is, but there must be something to it if there are as many similar comments as there are on this page.

I'm a little confused, Bryan especially recently has been cutting good promos and showing a lot of personality and now all of a sudden he's bland what's up with that?

Beyond his wrestling, I'm struggling to think of much in all honesty. So, it's lack of a defined character beyond "awesome wrestler", then? Maybe this possible heel turn might be the tonic he needs in that regard (even though I don't necessarily want it).
