I think him and Jay Lethal(Who they should at least sign him to FCW) are probably the best TNA homegrown talent they ever had in their history, I thought Vince liked his samoan wrestlers (The Rock, Yokozuna,Afa,Sinka,Samu), I guess they don't like his physique, but I'm sure he would probably be motivated to lose weight if he got a WWE contract because right now he sure as hell looks unmotivated. He could be a great midcard WWE talent.

Literally.

because he's really let himself go physically and (for good reason IMO) doesn't give a shit anymore. he needs to leave TNA and re-invent himself on the indies in a big way before WWE will ever give him a call.

I also think they've tried to have a Samoa Joe style badass over the years. Umaga, Mark Henry, maybe Brodus Clay and the upcoming Sheffield character.
now, Joe has been so devalued by bad booking in TNA, no one even thinks of him as the model for that kind of badass. he's just a misused talent who doesn't look like he cares about anything anymore and works for the minor league, so to speak

Probably because Joe doesn't seem to care. Yeah, if they signed him it might cause him to lose weight, but they're not going to be a life coach for a performer. It's a shame, because the guy has a lot of talent, but if he's lost his passion and doesn't have the look, there's not going to be much upside to signing him.

I may be mixing up my news with my NEWZ, but I seem to remember it being reported that the WWE went after Samoa Joe in the past, and he wasn't interested. I think this was around 2006-2007 at the end of his ROH run.
Now, ya, he's just too fat.

I think it's a variety of reasons:
-His physique. The dude has really let himself go. He doesn't seem to be motivated at all. -His attitude. I'm not saying that he's a backstage politician or anything like that, but he's obviously unmotivated right now and seems sluggish and lazy in the ring. I think this stems from his lack of push in TNA which, while understandable, is a no-no if you're trying to catch the attention of another promoter. -Marketability. There is really nothing about him that I can see being a best selling t-shirt. -Last but not least, the WWE roster is pretty stacked as it is with guys that creative have nothing for and a ton of developmental guys like Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins waiting in the wings.

They could make it work (hell, Daniel freaking Bryan is the world champion,) but Joe isn't an intimidating monster in the WWE world. They were able to book him like that in ROH and TNA against much smaller opponents but it wouldn't fly in the WWE. He's be just another dude, and a chubby one at that.

Samoa Joe isn't interested in Samoa Joe at the moment. you want WWE to be interested in him?

Also, WWE tried to sign him 3-4 years ago and he ended up re-signing with TNA. Nowadays, he looks like a slob and lazy. Why would they want him now?

I'll put it this way - Kevin Nash is a guy known for doing the absolutely bare minimum needed to get over in whatever he's doing. In fact a common nickname for him is "Big Lazy". But he has shown more passion and looked more motivated in the short program he had with Triple H over the last few months then Samoa Joe has looked at any point in the last two years.

Bit of an odd analogy, but bear with me.
A lot of people (including Cornette) complained about WWE never signing ODB when she was down in OVW. And the simple fact was at the time they had Beth Phoenix, Katie Lea, Nattie Neidhart, Krissy Vaine, Shantelle Taylor and Angel Williams all under contract. And while she wasn't picked up until years later, Serena was working there too. Given all that, why bother with ODB?
Similar thing with Joe. When WWE has CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Tyler Black, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, had Low-Ki until he quit, tried to get Nigel McGuinness and is apparently working on getting Chris Hero. Why would they bother with Joe?
