I don't see the reason this would be fake, I also don't think they usually use Dr. James Andrews for fake injuries. It's really according to most sites, the only part that seems kayfabed is the emergency thing as it seems they are using it to put over Ryback more. This is honestly the best case scenario at this point. That's it's an incredibly minor surgery with a quick recovery time being hyped up, while Punk can still show up and play up the injury until the Rumble in January. Also helps out in that a frustrated Ryback can make the run in, giving Punk a DQ and title retention at the Rumble, and causing the disgruntled Rock to demand a rematch at WrestleMania.

Maybe it is not that bad. Maybe they can add Kane and Bryan and Miz to the match and have Punk still work the match in a very limited capacity and have him still champ until Rumble. That should be enough time(if its not too bad of and injury) to heal up and drop the title to The Rock. f***! tho. He went for a long long time without injury and now that we are closing in on one of the biggest match of his career this happens. I blame HHH,Ryback and The Miz. Why?

If it's just a scope, I wouldn't be surprised if he can "work" the PPV. Let's be honest, that match doesn't exactly require alot of "match".

In a spooky coincidence, the last 380 day reign was stopped due to injury & surgery. Anyone got bets on Punk also taking the #30 spot and winning the Rumble, setting up Punk/Cena or Punk/Rock to claim back his rightful title? I know it sucks that he's injured, but he could come back as a sweet tweener, get the crowd going huge for him and beating Cena or Rock for the title at Mania and it could be the best thing that could happen to him?

Yeah, I would assume that a TLC match would be the single worst match for a superstar to be in right after knee surgery.

What was going to happen anyway. Since they like booking him weak, someone retrieves the belt for him. I've seen athletes play a week or two after getting scoped and that involves knee movement too.

Yeah, I would wait until we see what kind of knee surgery he had until we judge what will happen.
Anyone think they could just scrap a WWE title match at TLC overall? That way, if the surgery isn't that serious, Punk can just heal up until the Rumble and be ready to go to face Rock.

If he's out for a few months, there is one possible positive that could come out of it which is the fact that he could return as a babyface. Large parts of the audience already resist booing him, and main-eventer comebacks typically always get face reactions. I don't want his title reign to go down like that, but I'm just looking for a silver lining.

He doesn't need to wrestle on Raw next week, the main event could easily be a tag team match main event Hell No and Orton vs Shield. They then keep his spots limited at TLC, using Shield/Heyman/Maddox in a well booked match working around the injury. Take Punk off all the house shows, once he has gotten past TLC he will be fine.
Rumble is January 27th, which is ages away. Rock vs Punk can have a slow build up using promos between the two and video packages to build up the match, only having any physical with them in the final week or two of build (hoping Punk is back to 100% by that point). That's how I would do it anyway, Rock vs Ryback is not appealing for me so I hope they don't go in that direction. In the .com article they did not say what it exactly was in his knee that he was getting surgery for, so it could be anything big or small. So I remain optamistic and hopeful that this ends up ok, and that they use the current angles with Shield/Maddox/Heyman to their advantage.

Didn't he just make a big deal about how he "worked the internet" by faking a knee injury like 2 weeks ago?

That's why I wanted to gauge people's opinion about it. Obviously, it is very unlikely but it was an idea I wanted to throw out there. Like someone said, if he's only getting his knee scoped, he could be back by TLC.

Probably Survivor Series 2006, if you ignore brand-exclusive PPVs.

Keep in mind, whatever was wrong with him, he was able to get around last night, get up on the second rope, and get murdered by Ryback. If he had a torn ligament, he's the toughest man alive.

If he is out for the PPV, any theory that isn't "John Cena becomes WWE champion" seems kind of crazy.
