Keep in mind, whatever was wrong with him, he was able to get around last night, get up on the second rope, and get murdered by Ryback. If he had a torn ligament, he's the toughest man alive. Yes, but after surgery, he will not be able to do much.

The better option would be to try and turn Orton since he's been wanting to go heel. If Punk is legit hurt and out for a while I really think we'll somehow end up with Orton winning the vacant title, facing Rock at the Rumble then snapping and turning heel after losing that match. I don't think they'll do Rock-Ryback because the crowd would destroy Ryback and I don't think they'll give away Rock-Cena on a non Wrestlemania show. They'll never do it, because I don't think they'd even go one PPV without a WWE title match, but if the title has to be vacated I'd love for them to announce that the Rumble winner will be crowned the new champion, 1992 style. Hell yes! The Rumble for the title would be awesome! It would actually make the Rumble feel special again.

If he was hurt worse than a scope, I'd laugh my ass off if Cena won the briefcase, and then they had a ladder match for the title.... Punk unleashes the goon squad on Ryback, and then.... *appledough!*.... Cena does the Edge on Kofi to Punk outside the ring, hands his briefcase to the ref and climbs up and gets the title. Then on Raw he acts like he won some kind of epic battle.

I'd rather Punk lost the belt by getting squashed than by having to vacate it. That's the most anti-climatic thing ever. This sucks.

Didn't he just make a big deal about how he "worked the internet" by faking a knee injury like 2 weeks ago? Chest x-rays if I recall. I would think this would be legit seeing as it's reported on WWE.com. This is why wrestlers shouldn't joke about injuries on Twitter. It would be like me using the esteemed Wrestletaint.gov to post b.s. stories only to find out one day that Dolph Ziggler really did date Amy Schumer.

Ryback will become the most RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME main eventer of all time at this rate if things go bad for Punk. Does John Morrison still have the lead?

He's got 2 full months till the Rumble. If he is estimated to be back before then, they'll just keep the title on him

Guys, come on. Punk's the BEST SURGEON IN THE WORLD, any knee issues he has can be blamed on that hack, Dr. Andrews.
In all seriousness, hope things go well.

Yeah, I can't see them taking the title off Punk at this point. As long as it's not a terribly long time for healing, it'd be better to just keep it on him and wait than mess up this long of a reign.

I don't even believe this, tbh. It's entirely possible that we are being worked (again ), but they seem to be going through an awful lot of trouble for an angle.

WWE Champion CM Punk Has Emergency Knee Surgery Posted by Joseph Lee on 12.04.2012
No word on how serious the injury is...
WWE.com reports that CM Punk has been forced to have emergency knee surgery. Meanwhile, Prowrestling.net has provided additional details.
Punk met with Dr. James Andrews, who performed the surgery. There is no timeline set as far as his return date goes. It could mean the end of CM Punk's historic title reign as well as a complete change to the company's plan of Punk vs Rock at the Royal Rumble.
The word is that the knee injury is legitimate and the surgery was described as "long overdue". Punk has been working through the knee injury for some time. It's unknown if the injury was minor or major. It's likely it wouldn't be known until the surgeon looked at the damage in surgery.

If anyone would go this far to work an angle, it's him.
