PA is kinda junk for decent bands, really. And honestly, you have to split PA into "Pittsburgh" (ie : The Takeover UK, The Clarks, ), "Philadelphia" (ie : Terrible Things, G. Love & Special Sauce, Hall & Oates), and "Everywhere Else" (ie : Live, Poison, Innerpartysystem, Fuel [sort of. Tennessee natives, but made their names in the Harrisburg PA area and were considered a PA band up until the time Brett Scallions left the band], The Badlees, Halestorm). In general, PA doesn't stack up too well. When I was a promoter I had so many great punk and indie pop bands from PA. They all broke up around the same time, and sadly at least one died, such a nice dude too.

Well, I'm across the river from Liverpool, so The Beatles. Nah, I ain't proud. Half Man Half Biscuit, Boo Radleys, Lightning Seeds, Cast, Dead 60s, Mansun (Paul Draper's from Liverpool originally anyhow, hence the accent) are old pride bands off the top of my awake for 36 hour head. Plus tons of new bands to be fond of too, my particular bias included favourite is Zombina & The Skeletones. I know that's not on a BIG SELLERS scale but they can independently tour Europe without issue so they count to me Heard of a few of 'em, but they seem to be way before my time/not my kind of music.

Also dont forget pa (Philly area) also gave us soft radio's bland hit making machine pink lol. The thing with Philadelphia is that it's really more NJ than it is PA, IMO, in a cultural sense. Philadelphia is pretty much its own entity separate from the rest of PA (and Philly people tend to disown anybody from any other part of PA), legal borders aside. There's a ton of indie bands in Philly, but nobody 85-90 miles away in Harrisburg is ever going to hear of them.

You could in Illinois, but most of the awesome ones are from Chicago and I've never lived there, so that would feel silly.
In Indiana (where I live now), what do we have? Jackson 5? Cool. John Cougar Mellencamp? That guy's a f***.
There have been some really cool bands from Bloomington, I guess.

Only groups Mississippi have are 3 doors down and Faith Hill. Kind of liked the first 3DD album but thats it. At least when i lived in NH, we could point to that being the home state of ronnie james dio.

Not my state because California is f***ing huge, but bands from NorCal I rep hella hard. Especially bands from my home town of Sacramento and the smaller cities around here. Deftones, Cake, Tesla, Papa Roach, and Oleander are bands I support because they're from Sac. Same here, I can't count California as a whole, but the Bay Area has produced Metallica, Credence Clearwater Revival, and the Grateful Dead, to name a few.

Also, some of the Bay Area bands, more so Death Angel and Testament.

I can't be the only one, right? ;D I just found out that The Lumineers, the band behind this incredible little ditty are from Colorado. And I've got to admit, as a big fan of the song, when I found that out I had myself a little bit of a markout moment. The Fray, OneRepublic and Breathe Carolina are also from here, but I hate all of them - this is the first mainstream band from Colorado that I actually like. So, I can't be the only one, right? I love OneRepublic and The Fray. I'm from Colorado and proud that they come from this state. I saw Breathe Carolina when they were playing for like, 50 people in a place 10 minutes from my house. Saw them every couple of months after that. It's amazing to me how big they've become, and ironically, I'm seeing them for the first time in over a year tonight in Denver.
