I can't be the only one, right? ;D I just found out that The Lumineers, the band behind this incredible little ditty are from Colorado. And I've got to admit, as a big fan of the song, when I found that out I had myself a little bit of a markout moment. The Fray, OneRepublic and Breathe Carolina are also from here, but I hate all of them - this is the first mainstream band from Colorado that I actually like. So, I can't be the only one, right?

I am.
I honestly am shocked at the amount of bands that are from Oklahoma City alone.

Honestly, no. 95% of the bands I listen to live in Europe, so I barely know any local bands.

There really aren't any bands from here that I like very much. Detroit's kind of a butt-rock kinda town. Not my style. The rest of the state isn't much better.
Rappers, on the other hand. Yeah, I'm pretty happy with that.

Not my state because California is f***ing huge, but bands from NorCal I rep hella hard. Especially bands from my home town of Sacramento and the smaller cities around here.
Deftones, Cake, Tesla, Papa Roach, and Oleander are bands I support because they're from Sac.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with that. As a fellow Detroiter, I agree and disagree. Michigan as a whole is pretty lacking in the rock department, with the White Stripes being about the only exception. However, we are also the home of Motown. Soul may have started in the south, but it was pretty much fermented in Detroit.

Being from SoCal, I take some pride in the different bands that got their start around here. Frank Zappa, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, No Doubt, Blink 182, Kyuss/QOTSA, Avenged Sevenfold, Sammy Hagar. Don't take that much pride in Kottonmouth Kings though

I am from Jersey. Springsteen is God here. Nuff said. Yep. Besides Bruce and the E-Street Band, New Jersey has a pretty rich history of music. Frank Sinatra's from Hoboken. Bon Jovi's from Sayerville. We also got My Chemical Romance, Gaslight Anthem, and Thursday as far as more modern bands go. Matt Pinfield, who is a walking music encyclopedia, also comes from NJ and helped launch the alt. rock scene in New Brunswick.

Hell yeah. New Orleans has some awesome bands. Got to interview Eyehategod, a local metal act, and they're so awesome.

The band 3 Doors Down are from the small town I grew up in (Escatawpa, MS).
But I was never a fan, and I had to suffer through hearing "Kryptonite" for a year or 2 before it hit the mainstream on our local rock radio station (WCPR). I've always thought of them as Matchbox 20 wannabes. And from what I've heard from people who knew them, the guys in the band seem to be total douchebags (especially the bass player, Todd).

A little, not as much as sports stars. And not as much as porn stars either; standing rule that if I'm out at a con or club and meet a Fl gal I have to buy her a drink.

Our most famous bands are Jimmy Eat World and Gin Blossoms. So... not really. Both bands have songs I like, but I'm not a fan of either on the whole.

New Mexico doesn't have much. When I lived in Columbus, Ohio, there were made four notable bands/people, with New Bomb Turks being my fave and even then, I'm not a big fan. I don't count stuff from Cleveland/Cincinnati because I'm always hoping Columbus will deliver some worthwhile breakout.

I think it's cool that Iggy & The Stooges, Alice Cooper, MC5, Crucif***s, God Bullies, and Destroy All Monsters all came from Michigan. I don't know what it is, but if you are a rocker from Michigan you are approximately 74% more likely to be some kind of freaky weirdo. GG Allin went to prison here. That prison is located in Jackson County, where Ted Nugent was once the Sheriff. I've also seen a lot of really weird bands come and go that never became famous or anything. I could tell stories all day long about weird bands from Michigan. There have also been some successful bands that were more straight laced too like Sponge and the Verve Pipe, but that's not as much an area of interest for me.
