Well, we had a thread on the worst, so let's go opposite.
When we think of legendary single-season teams, I remember the likes of the '85 Bears, '96 Bulls, and '98 Yankees.
What were the teams that stood out to you for their greatness/awesomeness?
Bonus points if it was a team that made a decent playoff run.

1999 Rams. They pretty much made the NFL look like a backyard pickup game.
2007 Patriots. 18-1. nuff said
1995 Bulls. No one watched to see who would win. They watch to see the Bulls.
2002 Bucs. That defense was just.... wow.

1996 Bulls and 1998 Yankees are obvious, but really they're the best of their respective sports.
1994 San Francisco 49ers - Excellent defense and amazing offense. Steve Young put together one of the greatest seasons by a QB up till that point, and finally got the monkey off his back by winning a Super Bowl and setting a record in the process.
1989 San Francisco 49ers - Domination, also Black 59 Razor.

The 2004 Cardinals was the best team I've ever followed. Few people remember how great they were. They went 105-57, but since they rolled over to the Sox in the World Series people forget that they were awesome. It was one of the few times that I felt like my team had a chance to win every game. They had 3 guys with MVP caliber seasons (Pujols, Rolen, & Edmonds) and at one time Bill James said that that year's bullpen was the greatest single season bullpen of all time. (I don't know if that still stands or not) they seemed to shut down every lead in every game.

2008 Phillies - I would see them against the blue jays, jason werth would hit 3 home runs during this game, what a fantastic year that saw them win the world series.

I was just amazed at how the Detroit Tigers just took 1984 by storm. Jack Morris no-hit the White Sox, on national television, to run their record to 35-5.
The Tigers just made it look so easy that year.

1990 University of Miami football team. Untouchable man. I hated them but damn they were good.
I know its not a team sport but Mike Tyson deserves mention for what he did to the heavyweight division. His emotions defeated him, not Buster Douglas. The rape charge did the rest. But from 85-88 he was unstoppable

The 1995 Atlanta Braves, the team that finally got its World Series win. They dominated the regular season and shut down one of the greatest offenses of all time, the Cleveland Indians, in that World Series. Greg Maddux: 19-2, 1.63 ERA. In my book, that was the greatest pitching season ever. The Braves had a lot of other great regular seasons, but nothing can top 1995.
Great regular season teams: 1999 Braves, 2003 Braves, 2001 Seattle Mariners, 2001-03 Oakland A's, 2004 St. Louis Cardinals, 2010-11 Texas Rangers.
In the NFL, the 2002 Buccaneers were the best in the world on defense. Derrick Brooks scored five touchdowns by himself. The defense was simply dominant and the offense ran opponents ragged and rarely turned the ball over. They even had a great kicker in Martin Gramatica.
The 1998 Denver Broncos were also incredible. They made another 14-2 team, the Falcons, look like a practice squad in the Super Bowl. Speaking of which, the 1998 Minnesota Vikings were one of the all-time great regular season teams before Gary Anderson kicked their hopes away.

Best football team I've ever seen was the Arsenal team of 2003/2004- The Invincibles. I truly believe that an unbeaten season in the PL will never be done again in my lifetime.

2001 Lakers: 15-1, 8-0 on the road I was just happy that the Sixers managed to give them that one loss. That Lakers team was a machine. My pick would be the 2004 Eagles. But for that dirty son of a bitch Roy Williams breaking TO's leg, they would have cruised to finally winning a Super Bowl.

The 1999 Rams was just amazing to watch. That was an offense that embarrassed everyone. And the best part about it was it came out of no where, as the season before they where not good. Nobody knew who Kurt Warner was. everyone thought the season was done when Trent Green went down. A great story and it was just amazing to watch it happen. I remember the first regular season game. Watched it Busch stadium when the Cardinals game was in a rain delay. I just remember my dad, my brother, and me looking at each other in shock.
The 2011 St. Louis Cardinals mainly because the comeback at the end of the season and what I think was some of the greatest moments in Playoff history. The comebacks and never say die attitude just made for on your seat moments and tells a great story.

In my book, that was the greatest pitching season ever. The Braves had a lot of other great regular seasons, but nothing can top 1995. I was going to say the 1995 Indians myself. No lead was safe with that offense. Their lineup was almost impenetrable. Kenny Lofton - Best basestealer in the league and arguably best bunter. Drew walks and got on base consistently. Omar Vizquel - Excellent bunter and got on base at a decent clip. Carlos Baerga - A second baseman capable of 200 hits, 25 HRs and 90 RBIs. Albert Belle - Only 50-HR/50-2B season in history. Eddie Murray - 39 years old and lead the team in batting average (.323) and hit 21 HRs to go with 82 RBIs. Jim Thome - Really began to develop his power in 1995. Got lots of clutch hits. Manny Ramirez - Hit 31 HRs batting seventh. For those counting, that's three future members of the 500 HR club batting 5-6-7. Paul Sorrento - Didn't make a lot of contact, but 25 bombs out of the 8-hole is pretty good. Best remembered for hitting a walkoff homer to cap a 10-run comeback over the Blue Jays. Tony Pena - Filled in admirably for Sandy Alomar and hit one of the most memorable home runs in franchise history.
