and is also the first film ever to gross £100 million in the UK.
Pretty impressive considering all the troubles it had with the MGM bankruptcy. I thought it would be a big hit but never thought it would ever gross this much. Thoroughly deserved as it maybe my film of the year.

It's also at $289mil here in the US.............which is currently $3mil more than Twilight: The Last One. (And it will probably remain ahead of Twilight too...) ;D

GF held the box office record in France since '65 , almost 50 (!!!) yrs before SF came along TSWLM and MR were also huge world wide (110 mill and a whopping 202 mill , insane money back then)......MR held the record until GE.

Incredibly happy about this, I hope they are bringing Mendes back for the next one as well. Kind of off topic but I really hope Roger Deakins gets the Cinematography Oscar for this movie, he deserves it every scene is beuatiful and is one of the greatest looking films of all time imo.

As much I hate to say it, maybe there should be a 4-5 year break in between Bond films as we tend to get the more quality movies out of the hiatus. (IE: Goldeneye, Casino Royal and now Skyfall.)

I agree with this. It gives them time to play out the movie and get it right, rather than rush it to theaters and get a horrible product.

And it deserves every penny. Although I have to say, they are going to have a difficult time trying to top it.

They seem to use that kind of gap between different Bond actors instead of movies. IIRC, there have been 25 Bond films in 50 years. Which means an average of 2 per year. Which is something since I'm certain there was quite a gap between Dalton & Bronson and Bronson & Craig. Which brings the average down to less than 2 years between. That's amazing (unless my math is wrong - which is quite probable).

I think they are making another Austin Powers movie. So I'm guessing they would want to gross:
One Million Dollors!
Oh god I hope it's not a hit... Cause if it is.. The producers would want Bond to go sort of silly like in the mid to late 90s.
