The world isn't ready for Cena as leader of the Shield.
It wouldn't make sense, but Cena walking around in Shield gear minus the top would be too badass for WWE TV. Children crying.

After his retirement at his Hall of Fame induction where he cuts vicious promo on the fans, but says that because he's not a competitor in ring, there's nobody to do anything about it. He walks off the stage cackling maniacally.

I don't know what year it'll happen, but when it does, it'll either be at Wrestlemania or the Raw right after it.

Never.
I'd rather Cena stay a face, but be dialed out of the spotlight, like he was at the start of the AJ scandal. The problem with Cena isn't his stale character, it's that he's presented as the center of the WWE Universe. As a face, he can easily step out of the spotlight, but as a heel, the narrative is going to be centered around recapping his heel turn and asking "Why Cena Why?" If Cena turns heel, he'll just continue to be the center of the universe.

I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that it'll never happen. They've had perfect opportunities to go for it in the past, namely in 2010 when Randy Orton was on fire as a babyface, and last year when Punk was taking off. They just never go for it.

If Cena turns heel, he'll just continue to be the center of the universe. Thats an understatement. Its like the red button WWE won't push. If they ever push it, we'll get recaps and interviews from everyone from CM Punk to JTG about where they were when it happened, and how they felt.

It mas sense for him to the center of attention, he's the central character of the television show.

I think people who say "never" forget about Bash at the Beach 1996.
It'll probably be a ways off, but I think Cena himself will eventually want to do it and convince WWE to let him. Hopefully the sooner the better as he pretty much acts like a dick most of the time anyway.

I think within ten years. Right now it's not the best decision to make for business but the time will come when it is the best decision to make for business.

It'll probably never happen. They've passed over so many great chances to do it, I can't imagine them finally pulling the trigger.
I think it'll be one of those big discussions in years to come where people discuss when it should have happened.

When he goes to TNA and becomes the third member of the Fresh Global Cabal, after Stephen Farrelly and Jake Hager randomly appear. "You know who I am, fella, but you don't know why I'm hee-arr."

It seemed like the company was telegraphing a heel turn heavily in the lead up to Wrestlemania this year, with a loss to the Rock being the obvious catalyst for his rejection of the nigh-unshakeable moral compass that really defines the character, but they never pulled the trigger. I just don't see them ever having a more dramatic series of events to draw upon to rationalize such a fundamental philosophical change.
Which is a shame, because the character obviously needs something new to do. It's like they don't understand that they've rendered the character utterly inscrutable to anyone with greater than a child's understanding of morality. The fundamental appeal of a "moral" character should be the difficulty of their maintaining their moral ground in a world of corruption and ignoble men. That's what draws the audience to them, rooting for the triumph of "good" against the overwhelming push of "evil". But Cena has ridden unshakeable "goodness" to unforeseen levels of success and dominance, which makes him come across as, like, a fascistic templar knight, a guy who mistakes his crushing power for moral righteousness.
If they ever do turn Cena heel, the smart thing would be to push that angle, with Cena as the Dr. Manhattan of the WWE Universe. Reveal that all of the "friends" who rally around him (Kofi, Ryder, etc.) do it out of fear and rational self-interest, worried about the onslaught they would face if they ever found themselves across the ring from him. John Cena as ruthless enforcer of his "Hustle, Loyalty, Respect" ethos would be a genuinely terrifying, subversive take on the character. It would be faithful to all of his establishing history, but exemplify the danger of unchecked power. The company's problem of putting all their eggs in one basket would be made manifest in narrative form, and it's the sort of thing that could engage fans on multiple levels.
Either that, or he just keeps making poop and poop-related jokes for the next decade until he's crippled. Whatevs.

Until WWE can build up a face who can replace him as a consistent and reliable ratings and PPV draw, he'll always be a face.

Whenever the actual next face of the company catches fire within 2 to 3 years. It's not Punk, it's not Sheamus because he's more Undertaker/Kevin Nash type than Hogan/Austin/Cena. Whenever THAT guy is brought up and catches, that'll be it.
