For a move that can be so pretty and graceful his had the grace of a moo cow.

According to Kidman, he used to do Gainers off the diving board into his pool so he did the same thing for the SSP.
It's one of the reasons Kidman was so protective of the move as his career went on. Other guys did the move better

He used to do it well in WCW I thought. Went crap in WWE though. He was one of my favourites when I first started watching again because if it though, as I returned during the whole "Injuring Chavo with it, the doing it again because I'm a dick" storyline. T'was awesome.

Didn't he give Paul London s*** for doing the move as well. He gave everybody shit. AJ Styles at the end of WCW. AJ responded by doing a running SSP over the top rop onto the floor, Kidman got mad and AJ said "That's not the shooting star press, it's the shooting styles press. I didn't do it off the top rope on to a dead opponent." AJ admitted in an interview he did that just to be a dick. Kidman also confronted Brock Lesnar about the SSP saying "I can do the F5, but you don't see me doing that for big matches"

Kidman also confronted Brock Lesnar about the SSP saying "I can do the F5, but you don't see me doing that for big matches" See, I don't believe this story at all, for the simple reason that Kidman isn't either dead or permanently in a wheelchair.

I can understand him being protective of it. it was all he had really. couldn't have helped that WWE had other guys on the show and in developmental who all did it better.

Would the size of the WCW & WWE rings have had something to do with the "change" we saw between companies?
WCW rings were notoriously smaller - hell, Savage's elbow drops were MUCH different in WCW than they were in WWE.

Being Matt Hardy is punishment enough, in that case. I don't want to know who he must have been or what he must have done in a past life to come back as Matt Hardy.

I always liked Kidman's SSP. It looked sloppy as hell but it worked I think.

Be fair, guys. He was doing it while coming down from heroin. (Man, I'm still amazed WCW got away with that. )

He used to do it well in WCW I thought. Went crap in WWE though. I used to think that too, but watching him in WCW, it was always lopsided. Plus, there was the time the SSP'ed the top rope, which you certainly never see guys like Evan Bourne or Paul London do. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RECbSA96kAo&t=8m58s

London's and Bourne's are things of beauty. There's finesse to the way they do it, and adjust their bodies in midair when necessary to land it properly.
Kidman just threw himself into the air and let gravity do the rest.

Yeah but if Brock tried to powerbomb him he would have been in trouble. Plus I think Kidman is secretly a 6 ft 8 black man considering his WWE theme, Lesnar wouldn't have had a chance! I did like his version but at times it got really f***ed up when he didn't fully rotate...exhibit A WM 20 Unobotched version is great though. Being a big fan of Bourne, London, Kidman and Lesnar it is always hard to decide which one is the best considering they are all done differently.

If moves had sound effects to go with them, I'm pretty sure the one that'd go with Kidman's SSP would be "blorp".

Kidman went from being built like a gymnast in WCW to being built like every other wrestler in the WWE... That might explain why he became as underwhelming as he became toward the end. He lost his look, he lost his flexibility and he became unmotivated and sloppy.
