He's a likable more talented version of HHH with great mic skills, and he doesn't hold people down. Ziggler and Bryan both recovered after their losses to Punk.

RVD, Kane, and Booker did better than Ziggler did, especially post Rumble. Lets not forget that Brodus Clay 'feud'. "hold people down" during HHH's reign was just code for him not losing to the first 2-3 faces he went up against.

these days I actually wouldn't really mind another Triple H title run. Good thing HHH isn't booking the show. Wait. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. And the funny thing is, this seems to be the desired outcome...

*Complains about how certain people use friendships to get where they want to be* *Girlfriend, road buddy, huge supportee, and longtime independent friend all win titles* Yeah, much as I love Punk and his friends, it was hilarious when a few weeks after he said that he posted that picture with him, Ryder, Rhodes, Beth, Kofi and Bourne with the titles. It was hilarious.

While it's pretty obvious they're not that similar off-screen, booking-wise CM Punk has dominated Raw in a very HHH-like fashion. From the start of his heel turn, he's been booked strong enough to beat 80% of the roster clean as a sheet, and smart enough to outwit main event faces like Cena, Sheamus and Ryback.
It doesn't feel as tedious as the Reign of Terror because Punk's not wrestling injured with an excess amount of weight, and his rambling promos are about five minutes shorter than HHH's were.

"hold people down" during HHH's reign was just code for him not losing to the first 2-3 faces he went up against. Your post is 'code' for you not knowing what you're talking about. People bemoaned RVD, Kane and Booker being "buried" because HHH won in dominant, soul-crushing fashion (you know, proving white supremacy, never getting his comeuppance for accusing someone of raping a corpse, etc.). Those three never got revenge, and they then moved onto much lesser positions in the company, with less focus. Ziggler and Bryan for example have been featured constantly and prominently, the latter of which getting tons of TV time and skits to better develop a character, while the former basically is walking around with a World Title IOU in his possession. The difference is in how they lost. Not that they lost. That said, Punk can never truly be the new HHH, because when he grows stale, he has no safety net to keep him on top and shoe-horned into prominent programs. Punk can be demoted when he outlives his in-ring usefulness. The latter cannot and will not. His sperm has seen to that.

I can see the comparisons, it's a legit complaint. However, I don't remember Triple H coming out and selling the virtues of a mid-card "workhorse" like Tyson Kidd. for a one off comment, as I recall he once wrestled Spike Dudley and in a prematch confrontation with Bubba he said he gave Spike the match because he'd been told a Dudley had challenged him and Spike was the only one with the balls to do soemthing like that.

I do remember Triple H at various points being nearly beaten by Taka Michinoku and Maven. And I'm wanting to say Tajiri at some point but not 100% on that one.

Tajiri had a fairly competitive match with Triple H sometime in 2005, which I think was one of Tajiri's last matches in WWE.

People bemoaned RVD, Kane and Booker being "buried" because HHH won in dominant, soul-crushing fashion I believe at Unforgiven 2002 it took Triple H multiple sledge hammer shots and interference from Flair to retain the World Title. Kane I believe had the match won and was cheated out of it. Booker had the interference of all of Evolution and a Sledgehammer shot. A heel winning feuds is not burying them. Him having to cheat to beat those 3 men makes him look bad and make them look better. He's putting them over just in a different way.

I expected to get burned alive for this thread. I'm real impressed with everyone's views on this. The Punk die hard's are only getting in maybe 5% of the replies. I thought it would have been more like 90%. This proves not everyone on the internet is a Punk mark, just means the Punk mark's are the loudest. I myself was a Punk fan until a little over a year ago. Sometime shortly after that terrible feud he had with HHH and Nash, I don't know. Something just happened, can't explain it but Punk has suffered for it. I mean he's on 1 of the greatest runs of all time but it just don't work for me. Thanks for chiming in on this Wrestlecrap everybody.
