The second Aunt Viv was better. Seemed more serene and calm.

A lot of people liked Janet Hubert as her better because she was a lot tougher and stuff. She was good in that role, but I never thought Daphne Maxwell Reid was bad in that role.

Nah, I preferred the hammy acting of the original aunt Viv than the passive-aggressiveness of the second one.
Besides, Janet Hubert Whiten had a nice ass back then. Yeah, I said it.

Didn't she sue Will Smith a few years ago?

I dunno, I consider Alfonso to be about as unbiased about this as we're likely to get and if he even says she was bad, then I can't see any reason to disagree.

She was probably bad, but she was way better as Viv.

The second Aunt Viv was better. Seemed more serene and calm. Respectfully disagree. The first Viv was actually funny. Second... not so much. Though she may have been written that way for whatever reason.

I can't follow what you're saying here at all. In a segment on the E! True Hollywood Story about Will Smith, it was briefly mentioned that he and Janet Hubert didn't get along. James Avery(Uncle Phil) speaks about and says he might want it to be Uncle Phil in Bel-Air but it's not, it's about Will Smith and his story.

The show was titled "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" so most of the episodes had to be centered around Will and rightfully so. Janet Hubert probably wasnted more episodes/story-lines revolving around her character and was a c*** about it.

Didn't she sue Will Smith a few years ago? Yeah. I forget for what exactly, but I'd imagine it has something to do with her suddenly getting pregnant (it was a violation of her contract, since it would require them to change the series by adding a new character) and getting fired for it. She also hated/hates Will Smith with a passion.

I thought it worked out better for Will to have someone that looks up to him and someone he can bond with aside from Carlton. Shame that Janet still seems to hate Will though since it really wasn't his fault that the show was focused more on him and he always seemed like such a nice guy.

The second Aunt Viv was like the second Harriet Winslow, incredibly bland and forgettable. That being said, the first Aunt Viv wasn't all that great and I'm not sure why they didn't just write out the character...along with Nicky.
