I thought ultra-polite dexter and dee dee were actually the funniest part of the episode. Yeah, got a kick out of that myself. If only for them being inexplicably British. And is it me or were Rude DeeDee and Rude Dexter New Yorkers? I mean that was the kind of accent I heard in between all the beeps.

I can see why they banned it. Unlike the Spongebob episode, this one had some viciousness to the cursing. I would've aired it, but now I understand the decision.

If not for the title card, they could probably have aired that on the current CN. Ive heard raunchier stuff on Mad for pete's sake. Also, if this was made during season one or two, this is the final Hanna-Barbera cartoon to be aired (first-run that is).

Yeah, this was never going to be shown uncensored back then or now. That was the intention.
I have no idea why people thought otherwise.

Doesn't Adult Swim air much more questionable content on a regular basis? Yeah, I mean Metalocalypse and Superjail has more fictional people killed on a regular basis than I've ever seen. Those shows air at least after 10 pm. However, I think Cartoon Network would be hesitant given Dexter's status on the network. I could see them airing it today, but given you could tell what most of the swears were I don't know.

So this was either cut and censored for obvious reasons, or the person who saw it at the convention all those years ago saw what we saw, and fabricated some stuff like 'skull-f***ing douchebag'. I'm willing to bet it's the latter, since that person's whole story seemed kind of... embellished, and also, that's such a poorly constructed, middle-schooler swear that I'd think writers as clever as the one on Dexter's Lab would be able to come up with something a lot better. The story was still tame enough and the swearing was done in such a way that the idea that it was designed to be aired censored still holds up, IMO.

The likelihood of this getting out uncensored was probably as high as the likelihood of me winning the lottery three times in a row.
This was an episodes of a kid's show that helped make the network popular. It was never going to be not censored, and unless someone involved steals an original and releases a bootleg copy, it's never going to be released uncensored.
And honestly... I don't really see why it'd add or detract to anyone's enjoyment of the episode. Cursing for the sake of cursing isn't funny to me.

I'm curious about the title card. They had it made but they had to have known it would never pass S&P.

It being uncensored could also make it much funnier because there were scenes were you could barely hear anything aside from the BLEEEEEEP and that just broke the flow of the story a lot. Still, the episode was pretty funny.

Wasn't the version that they showed in the con that gave birth to the myths and legends about this episodes uncensored though? They probably have the audio somewhere, but I don't think they'll ever release it. And even if they did, I probably wouldn't want to watch it. The bleeps are incredibly frustrating and that adds to the magic of the thing. It's like "GODDAMN IT STOP THE BLEEP" for a minute or three and then it's loops all the way back into being funny. An unbleeped version would be a different kind of funny. It could be funnier but like, eh. It would break the magic of the thing.

It's because when someone hears an episode has swearing, it better have swearing. You don't promise something and then water it down. I understand why they bleeped it out, but I can see why people are dissapointed that they didn't get what they were told they were going to get.

If I can make a bold prediction, only being partially aware of this whole thing; It wasn't shown uncensored. It was spread around to be uncensored to make it more interesting and causing a legend that people lapped onto and believed and will blame for whoever told them the falseness of it in the first place. If I am wrong, I will admit I was wrong. But there are too many logic holes for the people involved and the time period that make me think this was a thing that hardly anyone saw so instead of telling the truth, they made this urban myth and made it more interesting.
