God, do I miss him. He was really charismatic, he was a great manager, and a fairly decent wrestler to boot. Gone way too soon.
It's difficult to find footage of him these days, and you don't really have to post a video of anything, but I was wondering for those who were living "12 Large", what are some of your favorite memories of Sweet N Sour?
I chose the SHIMMER appearance because of this one line:
"You know what, I'm gonna look around. I'm gonna take a real good look, in fact, I'm gonna take a picture. Because god help me, I will never come to this hellhole again."

Everything he did with the Fabulous Three in Chikara was awesome, that reminds me I have no idea what happened to Ryder and Hawke.

Larry had a real old school vibe to him. I mean, like from the days of WWWF. ...The look of Ray "The Crippler" Stevens combined with the obnoxiousness of The Grand Wizard of Wrestling.

I've seen Sweeney live more times than I have fingers and toes, and for that, I feel fortunate. He's one of the few talents I've seen that could easily hop from promotion to promotion without feeling out of place or sticking out like a sore thumb, in a bad way. The man had that "IT" quality to him that allowed him to do that and I'd argue was underrated in terms of in-ring abilities. When he had to go, Larry could go and put on some great matches.
He was one of the only reasons I bothered trying to keep tabs on ROH and tried their PPVs back in the day.

Honestly, any video tribute to Larry Sweeney should end with this clip. He isn't in it... but the second he gets what The Colony are doing, he just unleashes a gut-busting laugh. Always makes me smile too.
I didn't even discover him until this board started turning me on to Chikara and I randomly picked up some DVDs. Followed "Sweet N' Sour Inc.." during his ROH run and always figured he was a complete shoe-in to be in the WWE one day. He always brought that old-school flare that has been missing for so long.... this intangible thing you can't really teach people to do, but once you see it done you say, "THAT'S what's been missing.... "

From what others and he have said on the matter, every try-out he got with the WWE ended the same way. They said he was too short. Which is a shame, and it makes me wonder if he had managed to keep his life in better shape, what could've been for him now with so many of his friends in the company now (Generico, Bryan, SDR, Antonio, KO). With guys like Bryan being on the main roster and getting pushed heavily, I could see Sweeney easily getting onto the main roster and at least being given a chance.

i met him once at an UWA show in mississauga (outside of toronto) and i had a shirt that all the wrestlers were signing. when i asked if he would sign it and answered "ABSOLUTELY!" and signed it right where my boob would go. i dunno if that was intentional, but it makes me laugh. he was so happy to talk to all the fans that night, and never made you feel like you were bothering him.
truly was a great guy. i miss him.

I wish I got into indie wrestling earlier. When I became one I was told to look him up as he was amazing. Sweet & Sour for life

Two live memories really stick out to me. One was from an indy show I went to in 2006. I was in the front row, going for a high 5. Sweeney faked me out, got in my face, and yelled "sit down, fatty!" (I'm a rather rotund fella.)
My other memory is Sweeney's return to RoH at Final Battle 2009. What a pop he got. RIP Sweet N Sour.

He's someone that was so loved by everybody in wrestling. There wasn't a person out there who didn't want him to get help and get back to being the Larry everyone knew and loved.
He was always a super friendly person to go up to during an intermission break or after a show. He loved to talk wrestling and truly appreciated his fans. Any time I hear More More More or see someone in those huge aviators, I smile. His death was/is probably the hardest for me. It finally seemed like he was alright.
RIP Larry. I will never forget you or let your fantastic body of work be forgotten.

Sweeney's death was definitely the hardest since Eddie's. i saw him was on the Final Battle 2009 ippv and it looked like he'd finally gotten his life turned around and on track, then he popped up at Cibernetico and he seemed fine (if a bit overweight), and then it seemed like out of nowhere he did what he did.

Unfortunately, this is sometimes the case for people with his condition. People thought he was fine before the first time, then he chose not/forgot to take his medication and it sent him into a downward spiral that lasted over a year. It's a shame, really. It seems like so many of the brilliant wrestlers in the industry are tainted with some sort of tragedy in their lives, whether external or internal.

One of my favourite promos not posted here was the one where he threatened to make Allison Danger his slave for a month. Such an old school stipulation, he made it so believeable. Also reminded me how awesome The Sharecropper was too.
