A lot of things that aren't funny catch on around here, but this one.... Yeah, I just don't get it. I've even looked through the original thread, and I just do not get the comedy in this one at all.

The coincidence of the "shareholders" trying to rid WWE of Swagger then Swagger getting a DUI was hilarious. But memes in general are just awful, because it's EVERYONE trying to tell the same joke a different way.

I was tired of it within five seconds of opening the board one day to find a good 10+ "Don't get too attached to (name)" threads. The dead horse has been beaten to a bloody pulp since then.

That what I dislike about this board sometimes. Too many try-hards run potentially good things into the ground.

Memes are exactly what I love about this board. Sometimes they get old but they disappear of their own accord, or just become so rarely used that when they come back it becomes far funnier. Complaining about them will have zero impact on people using them.

I have no problem with the Shareholders. It's lighthearted humor that is actually making the board a little more bright. Yes, it's getting overplayed but that's the point of memes. We can go back being bitter bastards during Raw tomorrow.

I thought the initial thread was funny.
Beyond that, any meme repeated constantly and obsessively is quickly annoying.
That said, most stuff like that dies down pretty fast. I mean hearing someone talk about doubting El Dandy now isn't annoying, because it's like one post a week.
Probably th eonly one recently that had any longevity is ruining the tensai gimmick, but that stuck to Tensai threads mainly so it didn't really matter.

Blame me. I joined the original guy first forgetting where I am. I post so sporadically I knew I wouldn't kill it. Sadly other people got too attached.

As if. The "will x ruin the Lord Tensai" gimmick went on way too long. Yeah this place has a special way of running things into the ground. It's The WWE board. It's all we know. It's the way of our people.

You forgot "who are you to doubt the shareholders?" Shares Vs Career match Jobber to the Shares You're time is up, your shares are mine Can go on and on..... Those are my shares and come Sunday I'm taking them back. If only MVP had held Shares instead of a screw drive Steak holders chose Rice Flair 2 to 1 over other wrestling affiliated food products One becomes a shareholder when Kane strips you down, burns your clothes in a tras can and hands you a bidness suit.

I like that we have our own made up storyline. We need something to entertain ourselves during non-wrestling days. It's a good gimmick too. One that I think it could actually be used.

It's not even a legit WWE storyline (Yet?) and FAN has really overexposed and forced its way into the board like a 3 hour raw full of Saturday Morning Slam recaps.. The Shareholders are like Zack Ryder and People Power all mixed up in one big bag of animal poop thats been left on the forums nice manicured lawn.. I can't wait for FAN to drop this storyline, like Randy Ortons Thighs... P.S. Christians Slaves thing can stay.. Shareholder thing is good. Personally I think you've sold out. You're a shareholder, and you're posting here to get some Shareholder Goodwill going around here. Next you'll demand there should a holiday for shareholders, and shareholder merchandise.

Memes in general are pretty much the lowest form of comedy. Literally all you're doing is taking what somebody else has said and repeating it. There's no wit involved whatsoever. It's the internet equivalent of someone telling a joke at a party, then later ten more people telling the same joke to the same people in slightly different ways.
But what baffles me about memes on this forum in particular is that there's often no real humour involved in them at all. For example, remember when everybody had those "Civil War" sigs a few years ago? Nevermind that the meme started years after the Marvel Comics storyline had ended, I just don't get what the joke was. It was literally just people taking the Marvel "Civil War" poster and putting their favourite wrestlers on it, with the caption "I'm with....." WTF was that?
And I would argue that a lot of memes tend not to die out naturally around here. Some people just won't let them. Remember Lugermania, El Dandy, Snitsky, etc? That shit took years to go away.
