Memes in general are pretty much the lowest form of comedy. Literally all you're doing is taking what somebody else has said and repeating it. There's no wit involved whatsoever. It's the internet equivalent of someone telling a joke at a party, then later ten more people telling the same joke to the same people in slightly different ways. But what baffles me about memes on this forum in particular is that there's often no real humour involved in them at all. For example, remember when everybody had those "Civil War" sigs a few years ago? Nevermind that the meme started years after the Marvel Comics storyline had ended, I just don't get what the joke was. It was literally just people taking the Marvel "Civil War" poster and putting their favourite wrestlers on it, with the caption "I'm with....." WTF was that? And I would argue that a lot of memes tend not to die out naturally around here. Some people just won't let them. Remember Lugermania, El Dandy, Snitsky, etc? That s*** took years to go away. I think the Civil War sigs were related to the Summer of Punk angle. Imo, those sigs were harmless. They're no different from the WM sigs that most of us have now. The Tensai gimmick thing was okay because it was limited to threads about Tensai. For the current Shareholder meme, I actually like the "Don't get too attached to X" part of the meme (I started one of those threads about The Rock), but it began to snowball into other things for whatever reason after all of the "Don't Get Too Attached" threads were locked. And we find ourselves talking about Shareholders in relation to nearly every wrestler.

In all this talk of memes on this board, can someone please acknowledge me and also remember the "*Bell rings*" meme that lasted about one or two nights on here after Elijah Burke did something on ECW? I have posted multiple threads about it before, but no one responds. Some of y'all had to have been long enough to remember its existence, too.

I honestly would take all the board memes over people arguing about whether CM Punk is a dick or not.

Don't blame Snitsky, it wasn't his fault.

Many of the shareholders are suffering from bruised ribs and with all due respect...anal bleeding.

I honestly would take all the board memes over people arguing about whether CM Punk is a dick or not. Yeah. I like seeing people have fun. I like the board way better now with this going on and not 10+ page threads about buyrates, ratings, who should be getting pushed, etc.

They always turn into are bunch of people whipping out their calculators and trying to point out with a serious face how the numbers mean their favourite/least favourite should be pushed/de-pushed. But we can always go back to that. Wouldn't wanna have too much fun now.

It's okay, I understand. I wouldn't want a whole thread dedicated to how unfunny I am either. I'd probably start being sarcastic and say it's better than (insert srs wrestling topic here).

Eh, for me I don't find it like grating or whatever, it's just not funny to me. If people enjoy it, great, so long as it's confined and not in every thread/post.

Did Brock scare you while eating breakfast this morning, resulting in PISS! coating your cereal, man?
I like to think that we all make stupid jokes knowing that they're stupid, and not supposed to be some sort of be-all, end-all of hilarity or anything.
Sure, there's always a couple of guys who have to take things too far (like that annoying kid in your class at school or in your improv after-school group who just keeps using the same lame running gag over and over again; or the extremely unhip middle-aged mom who still says things like "don't go there!" and "talk to the hand!" thinking they're still culturally relevant terms), but I really don't see what the big deal is. A group of people find it funny (whether it is to you, me, anyone else in particular), it's not like it's taken over the board completely as some people's exaggerated claims indicate.

I'm a heel. The actual discussion discussions about business, wrestlers, etc are my favorite things.

For me, even though I've fit the Shareholders gimmick, it's not like every post I've made recently relates to the meme.

The memes are half of the reason I love this forum in the first place, and they're so ingrained in this forum's DNA that I'm kinda baffled at the idea of still being on here if you don't like them. They are everywhere, like people have said.
