Memes in general are pretty much the lowest form of comedy. Literally all you're doing is taking what somebody else has said and repeating it. There's no wit involved whatsoever. It's the internet equivalent of someone telling a joke at a party, then later ten more people telling the same joke to the same people in slightly different ways. But what baffles me about memes on this forum in particular is that there's often no real humour involved in them at all. For example, remember when everybody had those "Civil War" sigs a few years ago? Nevermind that the meme started years after the Marvel Comics storyline had ended, I just don't get what the joke was. It was literally just people taking the Marvel "Civil War" poster and putting their favourite wrestlers on it, with the caption "I'm with....." WTF was that? And I would argue that a lot of memes tend not to die out naturally around here. Some people just won't let them. Remember Lugermania, El Dandy, Snitsky, etc? That s*** took years to go away. So in summary "I don't like it when a group of people enjoy a common joke that's meant for fun" Got it. back to serious discussions Whose up for an in depth analysis of the cross arm breaker and the implications it has on the title scene?

The memes are half of the reason I love this forum in the first place, and they're so ingrained in this forum's DNA that I'm kinda baffled at the idea of still being on here if you don't like them. They are everywhere, like people have said. I think memes are fun. When they get run into the ground, they stop being fun. "Don't Get Too Attached" is funny. When it started turning into "Fear the almighty Shareholders" or "Bow to your Shareholder overlords" or whatever, it started to get ridiculous.

The cross armbreaker is not a good finishing manuever because it's responsible for the decline in Raw & SmackDown ratings, as well as PPV buyrates.

I concur, The application of such a hold is high risk as it stretches vital tendon'd. How's the van coming along? *wink, nudge, secret nod*

I like the cross arm breaker because anyone can apply it and no matter who you are (except John Cena) you will tap to it.

John Cena being unable to tap out to the cross armbreaker is the reason everyone else on the roster is getting buried.

There's a thing about comedy that a lot of people, especially on the internet, don't seem to grasp, and that's that it has a VERY limited shelf life. If somebody walks up to you and tells you a joke that you find funny, you'll laugh. If somebody else walks up to you five minutes later and tells you the same joke with little variation, you're not going to laugh, because it's just not going to have the same impact. If people keep coming up to you to tell you the same joke every five minutes for the next hour, you start to get a little annoyed. This is literally all memes are, not really "shared" jokes, but rather one person's joke that gets repeated ad nauseam to an audience that's already heard it before.

They might not necessarily be funny all the time but I say the memes here serve more of a social function than they do a comedic one. They work to develop and maintain a sense of shared community. The root meme is perhaps the stone in our stone soup of wrestling meta discussion.

This one Meme has been the worse reoccurring joke in this forums history.. At least now a meme will get mentioned on occasion like Christian keeps slave He's Fat HHH Buried... I did it for The Rock What's_______ Doing in the Impact Zone (Which is my personal favorite)
This Shareholder thing just got under my skin worst than Zack Ryder..
