Proving Ground was a good enough show, but it felt sort of stale. I feel like I've seen nothing but Sami vs DJ forever at this point.
I felt really bad for the opening three way. They worked hard but couldn't get the crowd up.

Show was hurt a bit by the crowd being burnt out a bit from the WSU show. Either way it was a fun experience. Smothers/Excellent was very disappointing, but very cool to see Scotty back in the Combat Zone. Show was also hurt a bit by Masada getting hurt during WSU. Dunno how serious it was, but it was enough to keep him from defending his title.
And I wouldn't be shocked if that was Sami's way of saying good bye. He's not one for making a big deal out of himself (similar to how Mox left a few years ago). But I did kind of hope Sami would get a hero's sendoff at the same time. While not a CZW original, he reinvented himself there and became the face of the company. It would've been great to get a hero's farewell

So Masada needs surgery on his knee. He's gonna honor his commitment to Lucha POP this weekend, and then get surgery. No timetable for the injury, but it looks like he may need to vacate the World Title

Damn, that sucks. Masada was a very good CZW champion. Wonder who they will make champion if he has to vacate the belt.

probably either Tremont or Gacy if they panic. Tremont is over as hell in Vorhees, but the problem is whenever they go anywhere else, he is met with apathy.
I could see DJ going a surprising route like Alex Colon, Drew Gulak, Jake Crist, or even Pepper Parks

I'd love to see Gulak as champ, even though I feel like a lot of the fans would hate it.

I would say give it to AR Fox but he's holding the Evolve title. Sami is leaving soon for greener pastures. Drake's in Cali. I would be down for a Danny Havoc run. Anyone but Gacy. And Greg Excellent and DJ.

And Greg Excellent and DJ. Drake being in Cali isn't the issue. The issue is he's pretty much a regular in WXW and Big Japan. DJ has always said Drake has a spot in CZW as long as he wants it and as long as they have money to fly him in. But he's constantly booked on lengthy tours of Japan. Which would be good business for CZW to promote their world title, but if he's missing shows for CZW it ain't happening. Danny gets consistent Japan bookings as well, and it seems like the ship has sailed for him. I'd rather Gacy than Tremont. Not a Gacy fan but I'll give the devil his due, he's really been working his ass off in recent months. I don't dislike Tremont, but he's not gonna be able to have a good match with clashing styles like Masada did. AR Fox wouldn't be a bad choice, but he'd have to drop the Wired TV title first. Excellent I doubt will get a look. He's pretty much locked in to the comedy undercard guy. I also highly doubt DJ would give himself the belt atleast not long term. If Sammi wasn't leaving, I could see him taking it to drop to Sammi or Adam Cole if Cole wasn't so busy, but not much else. I'm still saying the dark horse is Pepper Parks if they have to take the belt away from Masada. Hasn't wrestled much, but his segments due get heat, and he's a guy that is marketable as an arrogant heel champ

I don't think the CZW faithful would take kindly to a Gacy title run. Pepper could work if they had established him as a threat for the belt. Tremont fits the mold of someone who CZW would push as world champion.

If they do need to vacate the title, maybe they should put it on the line for the winner of TOD?
Speaking of TOD, what are peoples thoughts on the line up this year?
Gacy, Havoc, Lucky, Scotty, Hyde, Tremont, Mathis and Takumi Tsukamoto
I feel this is definitely Tremonts to win -- especially with the lack of Masada and Drake wrestling in non-tournament action. I see a finals with him and Gacy (maybe Hyde if they want to reference that feud but I feel it will be a second-round match)

First match for the TOD tourny will please everybody (sarcasm)
Matt Tremont vs Joe Gacy in a Dog Collar match
Jake Crist is joining DJ Hyde on a tour for Big Japan while Drake is gonna be with WXW next week in Germany. He's teaming with Masashi Takeda to take on the Aut-Siders for the WXW tag titles
Here's the lineup so far for CZW's Germany show in June known as 18+ Underground Chapter 6
Kendo Stick and 10,000 Thumbtacks Match Jimmy Havoc vs James Davis
Lighttubes and Kenzan Deathmatch Masashi Takeda vs Drake Younger (who are teaming for the WXW tag titles 24 hours earlier)
Toy Story Deathmatch DJ Hyde vs Clint Margera
Wanderers vs Sumerian Death Squad

From CZW's Facebook page:
Due to personal reasons, Matt Tremont will not be in action. With Tremont out, Joe Gacy has pulled himself from TOD!
This has lead to a NEW 'Tournament of Death' first round: * NEW * Ultraviolent Dog Collar Match: MASADA vs. Ron Mathis * NEW * Mummified Barbed Wire Match: Danny Havoc vs. Rory Mondo * Ultraviolent Ladders Match: Lucky tHURteen vs. Scotty Vortekz * International Pains of Glass: CZW owner DJ Hyde vs. Takumi Tsukamoto
In non-tournament action: Drake Younger vs. Devon Moore in a Scaffold Match
After months of speculation, this will be Sami Callihan's last CZW event. Who will he face?
Drew Gulak, OI4K's Jake & Dave Crist, and Tommy Dreamer will also be on-hand at 'Tournament of Death' at June 8.
Rumor has it Tremont has Hepatitis C. If so that's absolutely terrible news for everyone involved.
