How is he an asshole? He didn't even write a ticket.
This come of as the motorcycle rider trying to make something out of nothing on the internet.

I was pulled over by a cop for pulling out with at least 5 car lengths between us (as I remember) but he followed me for a mile and gave me a ticket for pulling out "in a manner that caused me(the cop) to apply pressure to my(his) brakes in order to avoid a collision" He was a f***ing bastard and they threw it out, but he eventually got a promotion to state trooper.

How is he an asshole? He didn't even write a ticket. This come of as the motorcycle rider trying to make something out of nothing on the internet. If nothing else, he's kind of a dick for not checking or even appearing the least bit concerned that he might have hurt the guy by crashing into his bike. The cop was clearly afraid he had done something wrong, because he immediately came over and started defending himself without first being accused of anything and then tries to intimidate him "I can write you a shitload of tickets!" Whether he was right or wrong in the accident, this cop does seem like a self-righteous asshole in my opinion. He seems like the kind of guy who thinks he's a great parent because he only beats his kids when they really ask for it.

I was going to ask how traffic laws work in the US but the video seems to state that just like in France, the person rear-ending the other is considered responsible in case of an accident as they are considered to have driven to close/not slown down soon enough to avoid them. Considering the cop is talking about what's against the law, you'd think he'd know that. How is he an asshole? He didn't even write a ticket. This come of as the motorcycle rider trying to make something out of nothing on the internet. The cop was in the wrong and from what I could see, the motorcyclist did nothing illegal. He was also acting like he was trying to intimidate the motorcyclist and frankly, I think the only reason he didn't write a ticket is because he realized the guy was filming it and could prove he didn't do anything illegal.

You are allowed to brake while on the road. It's the person behind you's responsibility to ensure they are suitably spaced, travelling at a reasonable speed and paying enough attention to allow for the car/bike in front to stop in an emergency and not hit them. He didn't do at least one of those so the cop is at fault.
Even ignoring the fact that he caused the accident, his behaviour afterwards is what makes him an asshole. He doesn't check if the guy's ok and immediately starts intimidating the guy into not pursuing any further action. Police are public servants and intimidating members of the public to cover their own ass is unacceptable. To me at least.
The cop has no right to be issuing 'shitloads of tickets'. Handing out shitloads of tickets on invented charges is corrupt and indeed illegal (maybe not in America, but I suspect it is). Him not going that far doesn't give him a pass.
