I remember Batman Forever was HUGE when it came out. While I wasn't exactly reading reviews of it by professional film critics (I was about 10) I remember people generally thought it was well made too. I still remember it fondly though I haven't watched it for a while. Batman and Robin on the other hand I remember being goofed on even back then.

I feel like the popular opinion of Titanic has fallen drastically in recent years for a number of reasons.

The initial reception for Revenge of the Sith was largely positive, but now most people seem to agree that it's not much better than the other prequels.
Which is fine by me because I've been saying that for almost 8 years.

Revenge of the Sith comes closer to being a satisfying movie for me than the other two do, perhaps, but the problems all sink it just the same, worst of which is poor pacing. Way too much crap happens in the movie, some of which should have happened in the shitty Attack of the Clones, which makes even good scenes rushed or too damn short.

Cars. Big as it was, it gets dogged on quite a bit these days. Similarly, A Bug's Life seems to have an "eh, it was just okay" response more now than when it came out (Oddly, it's competitor, Antz, went the opposite direction. Everyone compared it negatively in the shadow of A Bug's Life, but I hear a lot more praise for it these days).

I remember right after Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace came out, everyone I knew was talking about how great it was. One of my friends even said "it blows away the older Star Wars movies". But now it's almost universally hated.

Meet The Parents. I remember how everybody talked about how funny it was. Now I see the exact opposite and how it's a classic example of crappy comedy.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind. When it came out, everyone went on about how great it was. Now it just looks goofy.

Everyone seems to be Forrest Gump hating these days. I thought I was the only one who noticed. What the hell is with that? I don't care what anyone says, I don't have a problem at all with Forrest Gump winning best picture over Pulp Fiction & Shawshank Redemption. I think that's why a lot of people bash it, because they feel one of the other 2 movies deserved it more. It's really the only thing I can think of. All 3 movies are extremely well made, but it seems a lot of people prefer the other 2 films over Gump.

Sandman using his daughter to justify everything. That 70s Venom. James Franco being stoned out of his mind. Emo Parker. The shoehorn changing of Ben's death. Yeah, there was hate.

Everyone seems to be Forrest Gump hating these days. This would be a big one. I hear it from people all the time, and a few years ago, I didn't know anyone who didn't enjoy Forrest Gump. The Matrix Armageddon Con Air Donnie Darko The Hangover off the top of my head.

The Hangover is a great example... I wish Donnie Darko was a good example, though. I have been saying ever since it came out how ridiculously overhyped honestly mediocre it was, and being accused of not having "got it". No,I got it, it's just not that good of a movie. It still seems like this movie is just as beloved as it was half a decade ago or more.
