For some reason, maybe in light of Twilight, people are starting to talk crap about the Harry Potter movies. I have noticed people either talking crap about the early 4 or the late 4 when Potter gets older

The Dark Knight. Well, it's not like everyone hates it, but I think it's kind of settled into the 'eh, it's alright' category that I feel it deserves as opposed to the absurd hyperbole it received when it came out in 2008 as somehow changing what cinema is because Patrick Bateman dressed up in a rubber bat suit.

Everyone seems to be Forrest Gump hating these days. This would be a big one. I hear it from people all the time, and a few years ago, I didn't know anyone who didn't enjoy Forrest Gump. The Matrix Armageddon Con Air Donnie Darko The Hangover off the top of my head. Back the truck up, people don't like Con Air? What the hell? With Gump, 1994 was just a deep year in film. In addition to Gump, Shawshank, and Pulp Fiction, you had True Lies, Quiz Show, The Lion King, Speed, Hoop Dreams, Clerks, Clear and Present Danger, The Cowboy Way, Natural Born Killers, and Naked Gun 33 1/3. So good movies would get left out, no matter what.

Avatar had a lot of backlash when it came out, just for being vapid.
Titanic had backlash for being a giant chick flick.
ID4 had backlash for being corny.
Oddly enough, those all had pretty large amounts of hate with their release, that I remember. Partially because I remember beating up people that'd seen Titanic when I was a kid. And I'm one of the Avatar ragers.
And yeah, I've had a number of people tell me Con Air when I get into Nic Cage conversations. Then I proceed to understand that said person's opinion is clearly flawed, because Con Air is awesome.

It was Cameron's return to the action and sci-fi genres, and it was boring. Nic Cage was on fire when it came to action movies for awhile there. He had The Rock, Con Air, Face/Off, and Snake Eyes, okay Snake Eyes was the worst of the bunch and more of a thriller, but it was still part of a good stretch for Cage.

Blimey, Con Air is pretty much still my favorite film.
Avatar was boring - mainly because it hammered it's 'HUMANS ARE BAD' message over and over again.

How about Spiderman 3? I remember everyone liking it when it came out. I dunno about 3, I remember there being a negative buzz about it before I even went to see it. But there is definitely a hatred for the first two Spider-Man movies now, more so the first one.

Few people seemed to have a problem with the original Saw until the sequels and various knock-offs came out. I'm also seeing more and more criticism of Return of the Jedi, mostly because of the Ewoks, because apparently they're more out of place than the Sarlaac (sp?), those ass-headed musicians from the first film, Jabba, the Sand People and all the weird-ass creatures from the Star Wars universe.

Avatar and Titanic sort of fell into the same vein. They made more money than a Colombian drug lord, but a lot of people hated on them for being shallow, trite movies. I think Titanic isn't as bad as Avatar in that regard, since Avatar might was one step removed from being a propaganda film.
I seem to remember Juno being really well liked when it came out, and it even got Diablo Cody an Oscar. Then, after Jennifer's Body basically had the same script for every major character, most people sort of realized how contrived the dialogue was.

Thing is Titanic is basically a big romantic drama, a chick flick. I didn't loved it but I wouldn't expect myself to. Avatar is up my alley genre-wise and it whiffed. Now that is a failure. It was too long, dull, and heavy-handed. Dances With A Man Called Pocahontas....IN SPACE! was one of the more disappointing movie experiences I've had.

Avatar is fun when you're drunk and you have someone to make fun of it with you. By itself, I found it to be incredibly boring.

Everyone seems to be Forrest Gump hating these days. I thought I was the only one who noticed. What the hell is with that? I don't care what anyone says, I don't have a problem at all with Forrest Gump winning best picture over Pulp Fiction & Shawshank Redemption. I think that's why a lot of people bash it, because they feel one of the other 2 movies deserved it more. It's really the only thing I can think of. All 3 movies are extremely well made, but it seems a lot of people prefer the other 2 films over Gump. That's exactly why, from my view. What about the Scary Movies, esp. in the post-Seltzer and Friedberg world?

Maybe for some people but for me personally I couldn't care less about those awards as I know that they mean nothing really. My problem with Gump is that it is a stupid premise with a bunch of cheap nostalgia pops. Oh look the slow kid is teaching Elvis to dance, oh look now he's in Vietnam, now he's the Waterfate whistleblower, now he invented Apple computers, etc. all the while he claims to know what love is but Jenny just used him over and over and over again. It's not a bad movie but it's not a great movie either. It's just okay for what it is.

I've noticed abit more negativity toward The Lord of the Rings lately. Though for me personally I was never a fan to begin with
