I've said this to my friend ever since this angle started. They're going to have to go wildly over the top racist with Swagger here because if they just go with "illegals are bad!" they are going to get more positive reactions than not.

None of this would be an issue if Swagger could cut a promo....................... Swagger can cut a promo. Management just doesn't have any faith in him because of his speech impediment. But other than the lisp, he's fine.

This could just be a one time thing. The crowd all night was very weird. I say maybe we should wait to see if this is a regular thing, before demanding entire gimmicks to be changed. Yeah I don't know why this is getting ignored.

Theres absolutely no reason to like Del Rio in this fued. He's killed both the WHC and WWE titles when he's had them. Fans are bored with him and dont want the Mexican Zombie on their TV. His attempts at humor are unfunny, his attempts at being tough arent beleivable. His attempts and being a sympathetic character fail to garner any emotion from the fans. He's a complete and total dud, always has been. He's never been over enough to be an IC champ let alone have 3 runs at the top of the card. They TRIED to make him a big deal by making him champion, it didnt work. They TRIED getting him over by turning him face.. didnt work. He has nothing in the way of charisma, doesnt do anything to seperate himself from even the most mediocre of performer. The only interest the fans have in them is chanting along with "si" and Ricardos intro. He's terrible and one of the reasons I cant sit through a whole show. www.youtube.com/watch?v=g701p3qeIww

They could have Swagger demand to see the green cards of people in the audience.
Like Del Rio did.
Less than a year ago.

Were the crowd really supporting the heels, or were they just chanting USA out of boredom with the entire show?

Were the crowd really supporting the heels, or were they just chanting USA out of boredom with the entire show? This. Garbage show leads to garbage crowd chanting against faces. Outside the triple threat match, what did they give the sold out 15K+ crowd to cheer for? A taker promo?

My favourite part of the whole angle is Cole telling King (?) that Jack and Zeb thought that people that live in America should be able to speak English within a year.
What the hell is heelish about that? They even set a reasonable time-frame which is like The Shield asking for WWE to implement a five year justice plan or Punk politely asking for respect.
If this angle continues past WM the reactions the two of them get in Britain (and the rest of Europe) should be interesting as domestic American politics don't really concern us.

The more unpleasant side of the Del Rio/Swagger feud has finally emerged. Eventually there was going to be a crowd that was going to "side" with Swagger and Zeb. I guess my question is what if it becomes a reoccurring thing? I expect it to. Not because Zeb is right, but rather that Del Rio's response so far has been piss poor. If WWE had a face who could intelligently and coherently challenge Zeb's bigotry, he'd be more sympathetic. At the moment, Zeb sounds reasonable because Del Rio offers no retort.

That's not on Del Rio I think though. When was the last time a face actually intelligently countered a heel's argument?

The problem is EVERY survey taken by both left and right shows the vast majority of Americans want some form of immigration reform (be it path to citizenship or deport em all). In every study there is only a very small percentage who want all illegals made citizens NOW. Also, by making Swagger and Dutch so very "stereotypical" white trash southern redneck conservatives they are alienating a LOT of people.
This whole angle was a disaster in waiting the moment it started, there was NO way the WWE could have pulled this off without Jack and Dutch getting pro-USA chants, which is why they never should have done it int he first place.
The WWE (and a lot of you here) seem to have problems accepting that there ARE millions of us who listen to Beck or Rush, who are Conservative, who love Sarah Palin, but who are 100% in support of things like pro-choice and gay marriage and paths to citizenship for illegals. But NO, the WWE (and others) lump us all into ONE type: the Zeb/Jack Swagger type. And you wonder why there is a backlash!?!?!

If this angle continues past WM the reactions the two of them get in Britain (and the rest of Europe) should be interesting as domestic American politics don't really concern us. It really isn't heelish at all. That's the problem. They really haven't nearly been ridiculous enough about it yet. It was supposed to make Zeb/Swagger look intolerant of Hispanic (especially Mexican) attitudes, culture, and the Spanish language. Problem is, instead of having Zeb and Swagger be ridiculously over the top and reactionary about it that NOBODY could agree with them, they're half-assing it (as WWE tends to do). Unless they're trying to see if they can divide their audience among some sort of ideological lines and stir up animosity between crowd memebers. And that would be borderline braindead of WWE to do, IMO. This whole thing is a combination of Vince being petty over the Linda thing (passive-aggressive jabs at the people who "rejected" his wife after all that money he threw at her), and desperately trying to generate a new Spanish-Speaking main eventer now that Rey is on the downswing.

A lisp isn't hard to fix. Given the amount of money, airtime they're throwing at him, how much more of an expense can speech therapy be?

If Del Rio could hit random holiday characters with his car every week, I might start to like him... Till then... U-S-A!!! U-S-A!!! I look forward to the day when they start to run out of holiday mascots and need to start scraping the bottom of the barrel. "My goodness, King, Del Rio just mowed down the Krampus!"
