Starting tomorrow, Doctor Who returns to the airwaves across the UK, the USA, and Canada. This thread is to talk about the current half-season/series and the following episodes:
-The Bells of Saint John -The Rings of Akhaten -Cold War -Hide -Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS -The Crimson Horron -Nightmare in Silver -(unnamed finale)
Stir up some Sonic Screwdrivers and get behind the sofa, the Doctor's back!

I think I'm going to a concert tomorrow, so I won't be able to catch the new episode until the next day at the earliest.
But I will say that Jenna Louise Coleman is horribly cute.

Maybe it's because I've been going through my latest set of old-school Doctor Who DVD's on Netflix over the past few weeks, maybe it's because I finally won't have to deal with Amy Pond and River Song being on my TV anymore, maybe it's because {Spoiler}Strax is supposed to be back at some point this season and he's awesome , but for the first time in awhile I'm genuinely excited about a new batch of Doctor Who. {Spoiler}The Ice Warriors are supposed to be returning this season. Very much looking forward to that. Hope they don't change them too much for the new show. Don't want to make them like the Silurian's where they take a group with an already confusing backstory and make it even more confusing. Slightly off-topic, but from watching those old Doctor Who's lately I've finally been able to pin down something that always bothered me in the back of my mind. The gross majority of the classic show had this B-movie aesthetic to it that makes it fun to watch again in nostalgic way. I could see them having a retro feel to them even when they were new. Except for the Sylvester McCoy years. McCoy Doctor Who is the most outrageously 80's television show this side of Jem and the Holograms, with almost a Cyberpunk feel to it at times. Only about five years seperate them, but the amount of culture shock you feel from going from a Peter Davison episode to a Sylvester McCoy episode is almost mind-boggling. Not that that makes them bad by any means, just incredibly jarring.

Not a bad episode.
I enjoyed it.
Some nice teasers, couple of fun continuity moments and a great show from the principal actors, especially Celia Imrie as the villain.
Really well written quick fire back and forths, but at the same time, people are always far, far too accepting of everything when it comes to the Doctor

While I think the first half of this season is underrated, how does this first episode back hold up against them?
Asking from the States of course.

The length of time between the Clara dalek episode, the Christmas special and tonight, could be a problem, I'm struggling to remember all the Clara bits and bobs and the Great Intelligence is even harder to follow, can we keep a record of it all in this thread?. {Spoiler} I didn't get Clara's leaf explanation, was I meant to? I did notice it was Amy Pond's novel and the missing ages in Clara's travel book though.

{Spoiler}I liked the Pond nod. As for the leaf thing does that mean that a past Clara got that leaf before was made? Or something less obvious? And wasn't the first Clara a nanny as well who had gone on holiday on the ship that crashed on the Dalek prison?

Meh.....That is all, A typical NuWho episode.
The only one I'm looking forward to is the Neil Gaiman one.

I thought the episode was great. Fast-paced, great banter from Doctor and Oswin, the villain plot was pretty interesting and good showings from all the actors. Great way to start the half season.

It was better paced the the first half of the season, most of those onesfelt like two parters crammed into one episode.
