The second time he appeared? Yeah, he got the normal response. The first time? Not even close. Yea the second time when he came out. That was his usual reaction. So what's the problem? Because the first time he showed up, there was no excitement. It's John Cena, for crying out loud! He's the most popular guy in the company! It shouldn't be a game of roulette to see if he's getting cheered or not, he's always going to get cheered, unless he goes in front of a crowd that wants to boo him. But either way, he's at least going to get something. Last night? No such thing the first time. That's never happened since he became a main eventer.

Someone mentioned this before but is it possible the screen didn't pop in right away?

The WWE has been spinning its wheels for years. Same matches every week, redundant storylines and a mediocre roster thats only temporarily amped up by bringing back some part time wrestling from a time when the product was edgy cutting edge entertainment that seemed to try to outdo itself every week.
Now, we have a white shirt publicly traded corporation with aspirations to expand its brand outside the wrestling ring. The WWE is basically a bad reality show for guys to get exposure with the hopes that they'll eventually find the next Rock to make $200 million dollar movies while under WWE contract. Guys wins mean nothing, loses mean nothing... look at Kofi, I'll have him lose for 6 months and then be a champion. And whats that say about the title? What else does it say when titles 1/3 of the time are won via fluke MITB cash ins? worthless. WWE has done everything they can to get people to tune out.
