I shall echo the sentiments that that is not the movie he should apologize for.

He apologized for one of his better movies? He should have apologized for Pearl Harbor first.

To think, this movie is part of the Criterion Collection, alongside movies like Citizen Kane and Casablanca. On my Criterion shelf, Armageddon is nestled proudly between Seijun Suzuki's Tokyo Drifter and the original version of InsomniaAnd Citizen Kane and Casablanca aren't part of the current Criterion numbering, so Armageddon is even fancier than them now!

amaybe now Steven Tyler will apologize for "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing". Your complaints there should go to Diane Warren, who wrote the song in the first place.

Armageddon was bad science.. and a bit cheesy... But not really that bad. I mean, it wasn't The Core. It was an enjoyable movie, though the science being so far off is a bit distracting for me.

To think, this movie is part of the Criterion Collection, alongside movies like Citizen Kane and Casablanca. The movie is there because his directing is really amazing. His confusing quick cut-aways and actiony editing is actually really, really hard to do. Michael Bay is--and I say this without a hint of irony--a genius in terms of motion, speed, angles and etc. His movies are definitely something you need to study if you want to do something similar, there's not much better to try to mimic if that's what you are going for. Not to say his movies are good though. He purposely tosses away plot and meaning and uses his skill at motion to create "WOAAAH EXPLOSION" type movies. This makes those movies kind of hard to stomach if you devote even a fraction of brainpower toward it, but the sheer technique involved in the mindless explosions is actually surprisingly complex. What I'm saying is, if you take away all the narrative elements from Bay's movies what's left is pure, sheer amazing display of genius. Which means it's like porn in a way.

I didn't like Armageddon the movie, but I bought the soundtrack and don't regret it. It has some damn great songs on it.

I think the way he directs action movies with the up-close-and-shaky-cam with lightning-quick cuts really hurts the actual action scenes in them, for the most part. You can have hectic action without making it hard to follow, and I don't think he does it well. But Armageddon was better than most of his movie as far as the action directing goes.

Armageddon was fine. No need to apologise for it. It was a big enjoyable summer blockbuster movie. That's all it needed to be.

As much as I never found Armageddon to be that bad, I could never suspend belief enough to think that it would easier to train oil drillers astronaut work than it would be to teach astronauts drilling work.
A whole thread could be dedicated to the ridiculousness of plot points.

Regarding the "Transformers" movies, the only one he should probably apologize for big time is the second film. Did we really need to see dogs mating? What was the point of Sam's mom acting all bat**** after eating a pot-laced brownie? Did the Leo character really need to be in the movie as long as he was? I also thought that the Terminator rip-off scene was stupid. Don't forget the twins
