I asked him what he thought about Brock Lesnar bailing out with the IWGP title. He wrote back:
I think he needs to get over himself & it pisses me off that he thinks he can just try to discredit what my boys & me have done to raise the value of the belt but I guess the office is to blame for being such ---king marks on losers/whiners. This is a game that only real men can survive so all he did was prove our point!!!!
Anybody agree with Flash?

I believe in the sentiment but he's the wrong person to be talking about it. Norton is NO ONE in the grand scheme of the IWGP.

The office is to blame for Lesnar walking all over everyone. Lesnar is a dumb mark for himself. I would love to see a Norton / Lesnar shoot fight.

The only reason he was being paid by WCW was because he was a GOD in Japan.
Dude was being treated like Bob Sapp before Bob Sapp over there.
Norton, Vader, Hanson, to name the big three, Japan loves the hard hitters.

I love the assumption that Norton is "no one". Based what, the WCW run? If we go by that, Yuji Nagata is a glorified jobber and Ultimo Dragon and Jushin Lyger are pretty good cruiserweights.
Norton was massively over in Japan before he showed up in WCW. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe counting Lesnar, there have been six American IWGP champs ever, and Norton's one of them.

But he was never, never in the league of a Vader or a Hansen. Tadao Yasuda and Bob Sapp were champs too, so it's not like the best of the best always wins the title. Listen to the comment: Norton is a big mark for himself. He didn't elevate the belt... his boys didn't. Tenzan, Sasaki, Nagata, Fujinami, Hashimoto, Fujita, among others did.

I always liked it when Norton would defend the IWGP title in WCW. It made the company look more international in my eyes.

My favorite Norton bit was always him just randomly coming out to kick Ernest Miller's ass for no apparent reason.

My favorite Norton bit was always him just randomly coming out to kick Ernest Miller's ass for no apparent reason. My favorite part of that I tried to make a fad but never panned out was the one where someone bursted in on Scott shaving and told him Ernest was calling him out. Norton shot out of the bathroom with shaving cream still on his face.

I think it's true. Lesner really did nothing for New Japan at least when Norton was champion he didn't just walk out on the belt.

Scott Norton > Bork Laser
That, and since Norton was responsible for the greatest angle in WCW ("Hey Norton, the Cat's callin' you out!"), I'll definitely take his side.
