Serious answer or funny Dixie is an idiot answer. Serious answer is that there is a point to what she is talking about, but she also fails to understand that a whole generation of people have grown up not knowing who Hulk Hogan is. Also those countries in Africa or Asia don't equate Hogan with TNA.
Funny answer is that Dixie is an idiot.

Barack Obama, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, LeBron James, and Arnold, are just a few that are more recognizable.

I know people are going to spew a lot of Hogan hate in this thread because people believe he isn't famous or an asset or anything like that but the fact of the matter is Hulk IS the most famous wrestler of all time.
I'd put him in top 50 athletes of all time (Popularity wise) You can look at NFL legends like Elway, Favre, Owens, Rice etc and they're not known outside the United States whilst Hogan is.
I think Hogan is up there with guys like Tyson, Ali, Frazier in terms of fame and only beaten by guys like Tiger Woods and David Beckham in terms of popularity.
Suggesting he's as famous as Diana, Elvis or Michael Jackson is crazy though. Diana would have tens of thousands of people turn up just to see her walk to her car. Hogan doesn't get that type of fame anymore. Elvis and Jackson were so famous that they could make millions of dollars off 1 appearance. Hulk Hogan can't command that.
So whilst I don't think Dixie is off base by calling him the most famous professional wrestler of all time (Or one of the most famous athletes of all time) but saying he's one of the most famous people ever period I think is wrong.

Typical Dixie. Not knowing when to and always overdoing it.IS Hogan the most famous and well known wrestler of all time? Yes. IS he the most famous and recognized person in the world.? No. As others have, Jordan and Ali would kill hogan in terms of notoriety worldwide, and other athletes in certain sports are more well known in certain countries.
Did she really say that about the Rock? The Rock who is in some of the highest grossing movies yearly that are released worldwide, or Hogan, whose best years were 25 years ago and for the last decade has been on a r4eality show and in TNA? Yeah, I'd choose Rock.

Serious answer as well- being fair: Hogan is not the most famous person in the world, of course. But on the other hand- you also have to account for Hogan's very unique look. Using one example- Mr.T is nowhere near one of the most famous people in the world- but his look is SO instantly recognizable and unique that if he walked down the same street you were on, you'd KNOW it was Mr.T walking down the street. That is also something Hogan has- and it does need to count for how recognizable he is.

The Rock is more known as being an actor though. if you talk to someone about wrestling Hulk Hogan is always the one name they know. The Rock is just as well known but he's known as an actor. He's most famous for acting and only became internationally known once he had done some hit movies. Hulk Hogan is famous for wrestling he never had a hit movie (Except Rocky III in which he was a bit player at best) he was famous for wrestling.
Everyone knows the guy. Hell his worked wrestling angle was headline national news here in 2009 for his tour.

Agreed about The Rock, but Dixie wasn't talking about just wrestlers, she mentioned him alongside other celebrities, and said that specifically, Hogan would be more well known in places were wrestling might not be as huge now, let alone in Hogan's heyday, against one of today's biggest stars.

if she's talking about wrestlers Hogan is near the top of the list but there are politicians, movie stars and athletes that are more famous than Hulk Hogan

He might be famous and recognisable but how many people think Hogan and immediately go WWF or WCW?

TNA would be a lot better if Dixie Carter would just stop talking.

Who cares if your recognizable if your not relevant? And besides, nobody gives a damn about today's Hulk Hogan. Everybody remember's the Hulk Hogan from the "company up North," who became famous in the 80's and 90's. Not the 8 back surgeries, sex-tape mess of a man who's still trying to hold on to the little relevance he has left.

Wrestling isn't that big worldwide and Hogan's heyday ended 15- 20 years ago.

Wrestling isn't that big worldwide and Hogan's heyday ended 15- 20 years ago. "What are you talking about dude! I'm still a big star, jack! The last TNA show was packed to the rafters with 3000 people all to see me, brother!"

I mean, he's definitely up there, right? He's a famous figure who also looks incredibly distinctive. Not saying people really care about him anymore, but he is really famous and recognizable.
No one who doesn't follow wrestling associates him with TNA, though.
