In my opinion
- He is demonstrably talented at what he does. - He's generally considered to be attractive. - He has a certain appeal to women. - He represents an archetype of his role (male star, top face). - He has made significant contributions to his field of work. - He wears his causes on his sleeve. - He has a remarkable work ethic. - He's always smiling. - He comes across fake and fabricated. - He is incredibly bland/boring - His mere presence detracts from my interest and enjoyment of whatever it is that he appears in.
What I'm saying is that like Beatty or Redford, John Cena could take a great movie on paper, even one directed by such talent as Robert Altman or Sidney Pollack and make me not even want to watch it or unable to pay attention if I did try to watch it.
It's a special quality.

That's... actually a remarkably accurate comparison, and I say that as someone who dislikes Cena a lot less than you do.

So that would make Punk Paul Newman. Redford was only tolorable when he's paired with Newman. Same goes for Cena when put together with Punk.

Robert Redford and Warren Beatty were cool in the old-fashioned sense (not the Fonzi sense) and suave. Cena can be goofy, ackward and nerdy. Cena doesn't come off as cool like Redford and Beatty. Beatty and Redford would have the self-awareness to know not to make bad jokes, knowing how they would come off. Cena might be more like Rod Taylor, Burt Lancaster, or Robert Cummings. That could be too kind toward Cena.

I've always saw Cena and Punk as Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis personally. Only they're both Jerry Lewis. And somehow even less funny.

I'm more concerned of who is the Orson Welles of the wrestling universe Kurt Angle. Incredibly strong start evolving into an era where he was loved for his work, as he was generally considered one of the best around. As he got older, he gets crazier and crazier to the point of isolating some of his fans but a lot still think there is a good performance to be made each time out.

I'd say Paul Heyman or Vince McMahon would be the Orson Welles of wrestling. If we are talking wasteline then Buddy Rose and Adrian Adonis, whose bodies went from fit to fat to morbidly obese.

I'm more concerned of who is the Orson Welles of the wrestling universe Idiosyncratic, creative idea man whose work behind the camera was more significant than what he did in front of it, although he also had strong roles in both his productions and others... a tremendous influence on others in his field, at least from a style/design perspective... never lived up to his potential because he couldn't manage the business end of the industry, leading most of his projects to stuggle along in development hell or get taken out of his hands... had no problem making a buck in later years by appearing in all sorts of idiotic crap... and really, really fat. Yeah, Paul Heyman.

Yeah, Paul Heyman. What's the wrestling equivalent of a old man voicing Unicron?

What Hollywood star would The Rock be? Probably Vin Diesel or Channing Tatum. No, that's not it. There's another big action guy that reminds me of The Rock, but I can't quite put me finger on it.

Who would Sheamus be? Red Buttons? Bright red hair, plays his way through tacky old Yiddish comedy routines, and is a lot better when he isn't talking. Harpo Marx.

Maybe if you think of Sheamus as someone who made a name for himself being a serious guy or a tough guy, who later became more of a comedic, jovial character, then you could go with John C. Reilly. A example from classic Hollywood is Ernest Borgnine, who started out playing tough-guy 'heavy' roles, but later on was known as a comedic, good-guy actor.
