TNA happened -- both his world title reigns were incredibly short and they made him even more generic by having him dye his blonde hair which was really the only thing that made him stand out

He took one great promo ("Thank GOD I'm an asshole!") and turned it into his whole gimmick.

He was fired by the only company that can really make anyone a "big star".
But as far as TNA terms go, he was turned babyface right at the apex of his heeldom, his face run (which was very over for a while, as much as people here including myself hated it) was ruined by terrible week to week storytelling by Russo or whoever it was that was pulling the strings and giving him shitty stories to work with during the whole Immortal era, Anderson himself changed from the promo style that got him over to an extremely obnoxious rambling style (which is great if hes a heel and we're supposed to find him annoying, but christ, it does NOT work when hes a face), and then he disappeared from TV for a while. Oh, and ridiculous overuse of the whole asshole thing.
Really, I think hes in about the right spot now. Upper midcard, playing an obnoxious heel that's easy to hate. Should he be bigger? Sure. But it happens.

So was AJ Styles. Mob scenes were to ensue in airports. Last time AJ Styles was in a mob scene at an airport he was eating Sbarro pizza at DFW watching Sopranos on his IPad

He doesnt have that special something in my opinion. Hes just decent on the mic, just decent in the ring and has an ordinary look, nothing about him as ever screamed out "Mega Star" about him. Hes pretty much a mid card, upper mid card guy and thats about right for him.

Yes he should be as should a lot of guys in TNA because there bad booking. They are not. This is there #1 issue with booking over the years is they turn people face and heel to much and at most cases at the worst time possible. Anderson should NEVER turned face when he did. The whole feud with Angle was great stuff and Anderson looked like a star. So he cuts one promo and they he goes face doing the whole asshole bite. But then he turns face, heel, IDK what back and forth with Immortal. It killed him. It was hard to keep track what he was for months.
The face wantabe Austin attitude with the Asshole stuff was horrible. But then again that what TNA does. They turn people when they are getting hot. This is why they don't have a Main Stream star because outside the ones who already was one. They can never make there own because before anybody gets a chance to be it they turn him.

It's not on TNA, IMO, it's just life.

Yeah this one's definitely not on TNA, he is an upper midcard guy who is good all round but he can't piece it together properly to create something great. I am happy to admit there are times when I enjoy the guy and he does entertain me on occasion however I think unless he can find a way to harness all the talent he has and project it that he's always going to be in that mid to uppermidcard guy and that's okay.

I legitimately thought at one time, when he debut, that he was a "future of the business" type. now he's like X-pac, just another guy who still floats around doing the same tired schtick and never evolving. I'm actually glad WWE got rid of him because while a lot of the main eventers they do have clogging up the top of the card are still shit, at least it's one less terrible worker to clog up the top of the card doing nothing.

He was fired by the only company that can really make anyone a "big star". Yeah, given how his departure from the 'E went down, I think his chances anywhere other than Japan (which seems to be able to rehab guys rather well thru their in-ring regiment) were very limited.

He is not on that level at all.
I watched him talk to Kurt Angle recently and thought it was fair, but he is by no means on the caliber of a Jeff Hardy or Hulk Hogan.

He wasn't that good.

Ken Anderson had his big chance to be a star, he blew it by getting suspended for a wellness violation back in the WWE. He arrived in TNA during a period of time where they had a very topheavy roster and did nothing to stand out, nothing to make the crowd cheer enough to make management take notice. He didn't cut any great promos, he didn't improve his ring work so why would he be pushed to stardom ahead of Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Bully Ray, James Storm and so on?
If he doesn't make the most of the push he's about to get as the troublemaking #3 member of Aces and Eights, he'll be quietly released in the next year or so like RVD. I'm sure he'll do a few shoot interviews about how he's been mistreated by TNA and the WWE and those interviews will be a million times more entertaining than anything he's done in either company.

what happend? face,heel,face,heel,face,heel,tweener,face,heel... injured, face, heel, heel, injured, face, injured, heel. Bingo. TNA has this real bad habit of overusing the face/heel revolving door.

So we finally conceded that TNA can't make any stars that didn't make name for themselves else where?
