took the plunge and finally signed up for Netflix a few weeks back. I'm probably a bit behind what's "new and exciting" but I just finished Darker than Black (just the first series, the second one isn't available) and today I should be finished with Blassreiter. after that I'm deciding between Black Butler, Soul Eater and Samurai 7. what do you guys recommend? feel free to recommend something else, too, as long as it's available on Netflix I may check it out. I'm mostly a fan of Shonen stuff and Seinen stuff that's basically Shonen but more violent/adult. what can I say? I was raised on Dragonball Z and Gundam Wing.

I was raised on whatever was playing on Cartoon Network/Kid's WB at the time, so Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo!, Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. were all my shows when I was younger. But for now my favorite manga would have to be Love Hina (the manga, not the anime), as I tend to gravitate more to the comedy/slice-of-life stuff rather than the shounen series (e.g. Naruto) that many others do. It's got my favorite characters, heavily fanservice-landen but not in a way that makes me feel ashamed for reading it, and is genuinely funny and charming. Other favorites would have to be Neon Genesis Evangelion (if only the manga would finish already...), Cowboy Bebop (which, only recently, did I ever really become a fan of), Shoujo Kakumei Utena, and some others that I'm not really thinking of at the moment.

Starting to read the Fruits Basket manga, and one of these days I'll finally get through the first season of Inuyasha.
I also bought the NGE Comic Tribute manga a couple of weeks ago. Most of it is good (and funny), though it does have its misses.

Im a big anime fan but im well behind on the latest stuff and in no way as knowledgeable as some of you guys, at the moment im watching.. Dragonball (original series) - Pretty fun, but i despise Bulma, shes an awful friend to young Goku! Ranma 1/2 - Onto season three, lots of fun, love Shampoo the most Blue Dragon - Big fan of the game but this anime is pretty average, not to happy that the story is original rather then following from the video game. Noein - Decentish so far. Sailor Moon R - Fun but Sailor Moon is probably the most annoying character ever for me Bleach - Around episode 178 now, losing intrest a bit Naruto - Season 8 now, really want to get through this to watch Shippuden as soon as possible. School Rumble - Completed, probably my favorite, favorite character being Harima, the poor guy doesnt have much luck Ouran high school host club - very cute, hoping the live action drama is as fun as the anime Just completed watching Streetfighter 2 V (a little boring and no Blanka!), Full Metal alchemist and Samurai Champloo. Need to start watching some newer stuff though.

Man, Love Hina... now that's kind of nostalgic. Pretty much the first manga I read ever. Gotta re-read it sometime.

I'm currently watching Gargantia and Valvrave the Liberator, both on Crunchyroll.
The twist from the last episode of Gargantia was really exciting. Can't wait to see where it goes. And Valvrave appears to finally be starting its plot, in all its ridiculous Gundam SEED/Code Geass/Vampire glory.
Also, shameless plug. My co-host Lilly & I are talking about Basquash! this weekend on our podcast. Mech, basketball and anti-gravity boobage.

I picked up the entire first season of Digimon and the live action Death Note movie at the library
Did I make a wise choice?

I'm thinking about checking out Elfen Leid, just for the hell of it, even though it's 13 episodes.
Anyone here seen it?

I picked up the entire first season of Digimon and the live action Death Note movie at the library Did I make a wise choice? I grew up with Digimon, and am still a Tachikawa Mimi mark. It's pretty interesting to see how it came out. A lot of people cited it was a Pokemon ripoff, but the Digital Monster pet game was out before Pocket Monsters on the GameBoy in 1995. I'm thinking about checking out Elfen Leid, just for the hell of it, even though it's 13 episodes. Anyone here seen it? Yes. WAY too violent for me.

It's a fun series just because all the chars are batshit insane, and you don't know what they're gonna do next. And the opening theme is nice, but the ending theme cracks me up.

Well, I'm about to watch the second half of Puni Puni Poemy. So there's your batshit insane right there.

Ooh, if you want some batshit insanity, I recommend Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu. It's like watching anime while having that trippy feeling when you have a fever.

I have seen ONE episode. Is that the show with the girl who eats people, and there's a whole city in her stomach, and she acts bipolar, and everyone's in the jungle?

So I guess "Excel Saga" might not be quite batshit insane enough?

It's still batshit insane enough for me.
On the subject of insane anime... well, it's not quite insane, but the animation style is trippy... here's Kuchuu Buranko.
