Ok, so we obviously have a lot of anime/manga fans here on the forum, so I decided that we need a catch-all thread for discussion about all things related to anime and manga(much like we have for the various major sports and the different gaming platforms). So, to start getting some discussion flowing, what are you watching/reading at the moment? I am currently watching Attack on Titan and The Devil is a Part-Timer!(an incredibly funny series about Satan, his most loyal servant, and the human hero who tried to kill him all living on Earth as mostly powerless humans with lame ass part time jobs, with Satan working at a parody of McDonald's and the hero working at a customer service call center, this show being super funny is the perfect antidote to the super seriousness and hopelessness of Attack on Titan). I am also looking at starting a show called Red Data Girl and Valvrave the Liberator(heard both are supposed to be pretty good). As for the manga I am reading, right now I am reading Genshiken, Claymore, Naruto, Bleach, Attack on Titan, Nozoki Ana(warning, NSFW, extremely NSFW), Monster Musume(a NSFW monster girl series), Highschool of the Dead, Gantz, and Rock Lee's Springtime of Youth. I used to read Soul Eater, Soul Eater Not!, and D. Gray-Man, but it has been several months since I have read any of those 3. Honestly at this point I am kind of reading Claymore, Gantz, and Bleach just to see them finish.......the quality in all 3 series have sharply dropped from the beginning that got me into the series. And those are just the things I am actively reading and watching. Got a lot more that I need to go back to and catch up/finish. So, get to discussing!

I thought we were gonna be called the Freakin Anime Network? The things I miss when I'm not at the meetings.
Aside from Attack On Titan, I'm really following Oreimo. The Kuroneko storyline has me glued to my screen.

The Kuroneko storyline has me glued to my screen. You know I've been thinkin of making a separate anime forum in the future. I'll add this to my list of my names to consider. The other day I came to a realization that I need to see more Studio Ghibli films, as I've only seen Princess Mononoke. What should I see first?

I just got done watching Soul Eater, and have been reading the manga as well. I also finally watched the Eva rebuild movies after having them sitting around since they were released. Reading the manga version of that as well, with the omnibuses being released.
I've been meaning to pick up Soul Eater Not! but I'm not a big fan of moe, which it seems like it would contain a lot of moe elements in it. Is it any good?

It is a prequel taking place before the mayhem of the main series. It has SOME moe elements, but not too much, IMO. It is worth reading if you wondered what life at the school was more like as the main series doesn't really focus too much on the school.

Ok, I haven't watched all the available episodes for Red Data Girl yet, but I am liking it.
I will warn you, though, the first episode is a test of endurance. What I mean is the first episode suuuuuuuuuuuuuucks and makes it seem like this series is some kind of slow, boring high school drama. The second episode, however, flips everything onto its head and reveals the true nature of this series as a supernatural/mystery type series. I am actually looking forward to seeing the other episodes because I want to know more about what the hell is going on.
But it is still in third place behind Attack on Titan and The Devil is a Part-Timer! to me(granted these three are the only anime of this season I've watched so far).

I've been slightly inactive when it comes to watching anime recently. No new titles, though I am pretty much watching Attack on Titan in the near future.
Same goes for manga, though there are two titles that I still follow. I still find Beelzebub fresh thanks to its humor and all, and the other manga I read is Vinland Saga. That one's definitely a keeper. The character development for Thorfinn alone makes it memorable for me. The Farmland Saga arc was an interesting surprise considering all the gore and violence during the first part of the story. Now that the situation is devolving back towards battle, it would be very interesting to see how everything goes.

Also, in the area of manga webcomics, I recommend the Touhou-influenced series Hang In There, Kogasa-san.
It's basically the life of a manga artist and his wife and friends. A sort of self-insert, but they're portrayed as Touhou characters... and since that series' cast is more or less all-girl, then the very male and married main character is drawn as a female Touhou character. It's not as weird as it sounds, really. It's updated daily, and provides some fun info on being a manga artist and whatnot; lots of strips involving conventions and selling merchandise there, and in between there are trips about the main character's trips all over Japan.

Oh, I goddamned love anime. I was actually persecuted on a former board and banned three times in as many weeks for having anime in my signature.
My favorite has to be Tenchi Universe, the second season of Tenchi Muyo. Although Azumanga Daioh is a close second, and I'm a big fan of Louie the Rune Soldier. I love it all.

So I have started watching a few other anime series from this year. The series being, Severing Crime Edge, Photo Kano, The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat, Yuyushiki, and Senran Kagura.
My takes on these series so far:
Severing Crime Edge - Really f***ing weird.........like really weird.
Photo Kano - Decent so far, but definitely shows it was based on a dating sim.
The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat - Pretty damn funny.
Yuyushiki - Cute random slice of life show, nothing more, nothing less. Character designs are weird, though.
Senran Kagura - I have never seen a series so unabashedly filled with cheesecake. The plot is waffer thin and there is fan service galore. The female characters jiggle every freaking time they move, which makes no sense as they are wearing bras! But still they jiggle so much even the Dead or Alive ladies are jealous.

Manga-wise, I've sporadically been reading Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and Ginga Densetsu Weed. They're probably two rare examples of a popular manga series with a talking animal cast, but hoo boy does it get gory.
Also, Steel Ball Run. Amazing stuff, probably my favorite Jojo series after Part 3 and Part 5.

Trailer for the next of Touhou's Memories of Phantasm/Fantasy Kaleidoscope, to be released today. Half sure that it's going to be a full episode instead of an opening, and I am a bit excited.
And here be the first full episode of it. The voice was added later on, by a fan.

I've been checking out this other new show called Valvrave the Liberator. It looks like someone took ideas from Code Geass and Gundam SEED and merged into this show, very odd looks so awful you gotta check it out. Vampires? Space colonies? WHAT?
And while we're on the subject of anime, does anyone know this old show:

Right now I'm going through the Original Japanese version of Cowboy Bebop. A lot of people agree that the dub is better and I started with the dub but the original is pretty good as well. However, it is sort of weird hearing the Japanese VAs do the "Big Shot" TV show that the bounty hunters watch to get the latest on who to hunt down. Actually, anything that you would expect to sound more western sounds a tad strange coming from the Japanese VA's. Other than that, the VA's for the main characters sound really good. Especially for Vicious and Spike. They sound more over-the-top than their English counterparts, but they still fit them pretty well.
Great idea to have this thread, I created a thread a couple of months ago looking for recs and I'm going through them now. I'm almost done with Code Geass and I've just started Yu Yu Hakusho and Kids On The Slope.
I'd love to hear more about what you guys are watching now so I can check some of those out later on.

It's not new at all, but I highly recommend Monster. If you want action, Black Lagoon and Jormungand is pretty good as well.

I'm really, really, really loving Gintama right now. For most part it's friggin hilarious, but when a serious arc comes around it gets exciting... and still funny.
