Wow.....WOW....... Is, is Microsoft f***ing for real? I mean sure the Wii U has the same situation basically, but Nintendo expected people to do that as the two Wii U models have jack all for internal storage(basically Nintendo was like, "Y'all gonna need to buy your own storage drives for the system, sorry."), but this is Microsoft and the Xbox, swappable/removable HDDs were a big feature on the 360.......

Wow Microsoft, it's like you took every single thing that people were dreading about this next gen of gaming and decided it was exactly what we all wanted.

majornelson.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-and-used-games/ Well, at least you don't have to pay any fee to play your games at a friend's house. Just have to sign on your profile. Which is kind of a hassle, but it's a lot better than what was suggested by the Kotakus of the internet. Okay, that definitely lessens one of the blows. I have no idea what the hell this is though. It really seems to me that they're, right now, sitting in their offices... just KNOWING they f***ed themselves so hardcore and are now working hard to make concessions to keep themselves viable. So all these clarifications are nothing they are clearing up, rather.. it's decisions they just now made and are pretending they just didn't get the point across. Any other explanation says they are lazy, stupid, short-sighted, and really deserve all the hate they're getting right now. These are ALL points they should've clarified the FIRST time... before even going out on stage.. before releasing ANY information to the public. I give a shit what your box looks like when the reports like this come in.... soften the blow, say "We're implementing some things.. but don't worry,we have you in mind." It feels like coming home from school, finding your parents just got you that game you've always wanted, you get to go out to eat at any place you want, you get to pick whatever movie you want to see.. then at the end of this amazing night. Your parents sit you down and say they are getting a divorce.

I dunno, Major Nelson is a public voice for MS/Xbox. To me that is just more damage control after Phil let loose some things he probably shouldn't have.

On the one hand, after everything that's come from the proverbial mouth of Microsoft, this is totally believable. On the other hand, it's Kotaku we're talking about.

I think it's absolutely backtracking.
I also get the idea that they have a deal with Gamestop. There is no reason why they'd be as enthusiastic about selling the Xbox One and its games otherwise, considering that used games are the only reason why they're even a viable business.
If I had to guess, the used game install fee will be rolled into Gamestop's used game prices, meaning they lose a little bit of profit per Xbox One used game sale, or they'll be dicks to their customers about trading in Xbox One games and give them less cash/store credit. This would also suggest this fee would be relatively small.

It may not be that many, and if your XBOX gets a ONE Ring of Death, you're gonna have to use that feature on a new one. Don't know if too many people are gonna be willing to use up a login like that.

I get the idea that if you log into one device, it logs you off another and you'd have to re-log in. Which is reasonable to me.

Ok that's pretty hilarious. majornelson.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-and-used-games/ Well, at least you don't have to pay any fee to play your games at a friend's house. Just have to sign on your profile. I log into my profiel at my friends house anyway... for achievement purposes mostly... though that still leave the problem of if I want to play a game after my friends finished with it I can't without buying the game.

Do we even know the fee to install used games?
I mean what if it's like $5? Not a big deal.

And if actually released, it will be headed to discount shelves, because it's going to get it's ass kicked by NBA2K14.
